Cruelty crossed limits in Delhi: Shivam Gupta was beaten to death by delivery boys after only asking for water

0

A heart-wrenching incident was carried out at the beginning of the new year in Delhi’s Rajiv Chowk (Connaught Place). Here three delivery boys together beat up 36-year-old businessman Shivam Gupta to death. Shivam Gupta had gone to Connaught Place for a party, but there he had a dispute with the delivery boys delivering food. After this, the accused hit Shivam Gupta on his head with a helmet and left him half dead.

In injured condition, Shivam Gupta was first admitted to LNJP Hospital and then referred to RML Hospital. 17 days later, on January 19, Shivam Gupta died during treatment. The incident of assault took place on January 3.

There was an argument over asking for water

The death of his only son Shivam Gupta has completely devastated his family and they are pleading for justice. According to the report of news agency PTI, Shivam, a resident of Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi, had gone to a party in Connaught Place with a friend on January 2. After coming out of the restaurant, he asked for water from a company representative near E Block near Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, during which an altercation broke out between the two.

The father told that after this the company representative hit him with a helmet and his two associates (company representatives) punched him and kicked him. At around 1:30 pm on January 3, the Police Control Room (PCR) received information that an injured person was lying unconscious on the road and his body was bleeding. Shivam was immediately taken to the hospital. There the doctors told that blood clots were found at many places in his body. He is not in a position to give any statement.

Shivam’s father Anil Kant Gupta told that his son had left home to attend a party on the evening of January 2, but did not return. He kept calling her continuously, but got no response. After some time, the police called him and informed him that his son was admitted in the hospital. There were marks of serious injuries on his body.

Shivam Gupta was vomiting blood

Anil Kant Gupta said, “When we reached the hospital, his condition was critical.” He was vomiting blood and was unresponsive. We requested the doctors to send him to another hospital for better treatment. Later, the team of doctors advised him to take him to another hospital for immediate special care. Shivam was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on January 4 and underwent surgery on January 5.

Shivam was recovering, but passed away after 17 days

The father said, “The doctors clearly told us that the injuries were life-threatening and immediate operation was necessary. After the operation we were told that the next 36 to 72 hours would be crucial for recovery. For some time he showed signs of improvement. He was responding to the calls of the doctors. We had hope, but on January 19 he left us.

Anil Kant Gupta, 61, who owns two shops in Paharganj area, said Shivam was his only son and the sole support of the family. He himself reached the police station and saw the CCTV footage of the incident, in which his son was lying on the ground and his friend was standing near him.

Shivam’s friend did not tell his family about the incident.

Shivam’s father alleged, “I along with the police watched several CCTV footage of the incident. The police told me that my son asked for water from the company representatives, then he got into an altercation with one of them. In a fit of anger, he repeatedly hit the helmet on my son’s head. He fell unconscious and fell on the ground and his friend who had accompanied him was standing nearby. I do not understand why he did not inform us about this entire incident.”

Clive Palmer suggests Steven Bannon hoped to ‘increase influence’ by claiming credit for 2019 election ads | Clive Palmer

0

Clive Palmer has denied Steve Bannon helped direct his advertising blitz in the 2019 federal election, suggesting texts published in the Jeffrey Epstein files about the strategy were an attempt by the former Trump strategist to “increase his own influence” by claiming credit.

Palmer said he’d never communicated with Epstein – a convicted sex offender – and only ever spoke with Bannon in one brief, unexpected, late-night phone call.

In a press conference to announce a high court challenge to Labor’s 2025 reforms to political donations, Palmer claimed the Bannon story was a media “beat-up” and said he didn’t know why his name had been mentioned in a text exchange with Epstein.

“I just think he [Bannon] was trying to use me for some purpose, to increase his own influence at the time,” Palmer said on Wednesday.

Palmer, a mining magnate and the chair of the United Australia party political movement, had earlier this week denied any knowledge of the texts or any links to Bannon and Epstein.

The text conversation purporting to be between Bannon and an unidentified person – who appears to Epstein – was among a tranche of documents released by the US Department of Justice in connection with the dead sex offender.

Bannon, a Donald Trump loyalist and promoter of misinformation who ran the US president’s 2016 election campaign, said in the messages – sent two days after the 2019 Australian election: “I had Clive Palmer do the $60 million anti china and climate change ads.”

The 2019 federal election was marked by a significant rise in online misinformation and an unprecedented ad blitz by Palmer’s UAP. Scott Morrison’s Coalition government was returned, despite polls consistently pointing to a Labor victory.

On Wednesday, Palmer flatly denied any links to either Bannon or Epstein. He claimed he’d only spoken to Bannon once, when the Trump associate had contacted him close to the 2019 election in an unexpected phone call “in the middle of the night, at three o’clock”.

“I can’t remember the exact day, but I was deep in sleep, dreaming. I picked up the phone and this fellow said, ‘It’s Steve Bannon here’. I said, ‘Hello, Steve. Are you a member of our party?’” Palmer said.

Palmer said Bannon had replied he was calling from the United States. Palmer said he told him he couldn’t take donations from overseas.

“He said, ‘I don’t want to give a donation … I’m just ringing to say you’re running a great campaign against the Chinese. Keep it up’. I said, ‘Thanks, Steve’. And then I put the phone down.

“But apparently, if you go on the press reports, he wrote some sort of a text to Mr Epstein. I’ve never met Mr Epstein.”

Palmer said it was a very short conversation, and didn’t know how Bannon got his number.

Bannon has been contacted for comment.

Asked why Bannon would have tried to take credit for the advertising blitz, Palmer suggested: “Because it was a bit of an achievement that was taking place at the time in stopping [then Labor leader] Mr [Bill] Shorten from being prime minister.”

High court filing to come ‘within 90 days’

Palmer also said he would soon lodge a challenge to Labor’s electoral reforms, which limit the money that political parties can receive from outside donors.

His company, Mineralogy, has poured tens of millions of dollars into his political vehicles, often to little electoral benefit. Australian Electoral Commission data showed the UAP spent $123.5m in 2021-22, more than both Labor ($116m) and the Liberals ($118m), but saw the election of just one senator, Ralph Babet.

Data this week showed Mineralogy gave the Trumpet of Patriots, Palmer’s political vehicle at the 2025 election, just over $53m in the last financial year.

Palmer claimed the Labor and Liberal parties were seeking to “entrench themselves and silence the competition”.

“All political parties need to be able to communicate so they can fully inform the voting public. With this new legislation, freedom of speech is taken away,” he claimed.

Palmer said he would lodge a high court challenge “within 90 days”.

The special minister of state, Don Farrell, said the government stood by the electoral reforms.

“From day one, we’ve known that billionaires and vested interests would challenge our reforms,” he said.

“We’re stopping the influence of big money in our politics by capping donations, limiting campaign spending, restricting big donors, improving transparency, and strengthening the powers of the independent Australian Electoral Commission. We look forward to defending any challenge to these reforms.”

Uttarakhand: Himachal Bus Accident: Backrest collapsed while giving pass to the truck, screams were heard, this deficiency became the cause of the accident – Bus Accident Himachal Roadways Vikasnagar Lack Of Crash Barriers On The Road Was The Cause Of Accident

0

On Tuesday, a Himachal Roadways bus coming from Chaupal to Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh fell into a 100 meter deep gorge near Sudoi Khad on the Haripur-Koti-Kwanu-Meenas Highway. The accident occurred due to the collapse of the rear while passing a truck coming from Kalsi side.

The Haripur-Koti-Kwanu-Meenas state highway, important from trade and strategic point of view, has been in a bad condition for a long time. The 72 km long interstate motor road connecting Uttarakhand to Himachal Pradesh is damaged at many places. The entire motorway is one and a half lane up to 30 kilometers and thereafter is single lane.

The pillars and retaining walls on the route are also damaged at many places. There is also a lack of crash barriers on the entire motorway which is extremely accident prone. Due to their absence, every year many vehicle accidents occur on this motorway and people become victims of untimely death.

Private and passenger vehicles pass day and night on this route from Haripur Kalsi, the gateway to Jaunsar Bawar area, via the country’s major hydro power projects Chhibrau, Koti, Ichhadi. Apart from this, farmers and gardeners from major apple and other fruit producing areas like Tuni Babar of Uttarakhand and Shimla Rohru of Himachal Pradesh go to the markets of Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Delhi overnight with their cash crops.

The regrettable situation is that while the government administration comes into action only after the accident occurs, on the other hand the local public representatives are limited to merely expressing condolences. The attention of the local public representatives never goes towards permanent repairing of the above mentioned important motor road, installation of crash barriers and widening.

Trump admin sued by New York, New Jersey over freeze in $16B tunnel funding

0

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

New York and New Jersey sued the Trump administration Tuesday for cutting off $16 billion in federal funding for a new rail tunnel project under the Hudson River connecting the two states.

The federal government is accused of “illegally withholding” funding committed to the Gateway project and the two states are seeking emergency relief to force the release of funds frozen by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

With construction already underway, the states are seeking a quick ruling because the project could be forced to shut down as early as Friday, potentially eliminating thousands of jobs and saddling the states with significant new operating costs.

The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, comes after the Trump administration froze billions of dollars during the government shutdown last fall tied to the project, as well as funding for the extension of New York City’s Second Avenue Subway.

“Donald Trump’s revenge tour on New York threatens to derail one of the most vital infrastructure projects this nation has built in generations, putting thousands of union jobs and billions of dollars in economic benefits in jeopardy and threatening the commutes of 200,000 riders,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement.

She said New York “will fight this illegal effort by the Trump Administration to steal the funding the federal government committed to get the Gateway Tunnel built with everything we’ve got.”

“My message to Donald Trump and Sean Duffy is simple: we’ll see you in court.”

The large-scale project would create new tunnels and rehabilitate an existing Hudson River rail crossing connecting northern New Jersey and New York City.

The overhaul is considered necessary because the existing rail tunnels are more than 115 years old and suffered severe damage from saltwater flooding during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The tunnels carry about 70,000 New Jersey commuters daily, and Amtrak has warned that failure of one tunnel could cut rail traffic into New York City by up to 75%.

The project has been under construction for more than a year, but the Trump administration put a hold on federal funding in September, citing the government shutdown — a move the two states argue is “jeopardizing the economic future of the Northeast region.”

ZOHRAN MAMDANI VOWS TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST TRUMP’S THREAT TO WITHHOLD FEDERAL FUNDING FOR NYC

“Every time the Trump Administration gets involved, costs go up and working people suffer. The illegal attack on the Gateway Tunnel is yet another example,” New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said in a statement. “New Jersey will not back down from this fight. If this project stops, 1,000 workers will immediately lose their jobs and hundreds of thousands of commuters will lose the chance at finally having reliable train service that makes their lives easier.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James added in a statement posted on X that stopping the Gateway project “would cost thousands of good-paying jobs and put one of the country’s most heavily used transit corridors at risk.”

Jennifer Davenport, New Jersey’s acting attorney general, delivered a blunt message to the Trump administration.

“Our promise to our residents is clear: we will protect them from attacks on their rights and on their pocketbooks, whatever the source,” she said.

“The President’s decision to freeze funding for the Hudson Tunnel Project jeopardizes safe and reliable infrastructure and puts thousands of jobs at risk,” she added. “The Federal Government has left us no choice: we must challenge this illegal action in court, and demand emergency relief that will protect us from these unlawful harms.”

Piyush Goyal said in Parliament: The interests of both parties were taken care of, there was no harm to farmers from this trade deal – Piyush Goyal said in Parliament that the interests of both parties were taken care of, there was no harm

0

In both the Houses, Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, while presenting the government’s side regarding the India-US trade agreement, said that India’s interests in sensitive sectors like fertilizers and agriculture have been completely protected. He said that this agreement will open new opportunities for small and medium businesses, MSMEs, industrial units, skilled workers and industries and will facilitate access to advanced technologies. This will accelerate the goals of ‘Make in India for the World’, ‘Design in India for the World’ and ‘Innovate in India for the World’. The opposition’s uproar continued in Parliament during Goyal’s statement, but the minister said that the government has completed the talks keeping national interests paramount.

Phone conversation between PM Modi and Trump on February 2

The minister said that on February 2, 2026, there was a telephonic conversation between the Prime Minister and US President Trump on issues of bilateral and international importance. After this, President Trump announced to reduce the tariff to 18 percent. Goyal stressed that this rate is lower than the US tariffs imposed on many competing countries, which will give Indian exporters a competitive edge.

Sensitive areas like agriculture and dairy are completely safe.

Goyal further said that last year the negotiators from both the countries held detailed discussions at various levels. Keeping in mind the vital interests of both sides, security of sensitive areas was ensured. He said that during the negotiations the Indian side successfully protected its interests especially in sensitive sectors like agriculture and dairy. After a year of discussions, both the countries have succeeded in finalizing various areas of the bilateral trade agreement.

Both countries complement each other

Goyal said that the economies of India and America complement each other to a great extent and there are vast opportunities for trade between the two countries in the times to come. He said that while moving towards the goal of developed India, India will have to increase its capabilities in many important sectors including energy, aviation, data centers, nuclear energy, where America is the leading country. In such a situation, it is natural to focus on India-US trade in these areas, which will boost not only imports but also India’s exports.

Goyal further said that both the parties will work together to complete the necessary processes regarding the trade agreement and the paperwork will be finalized so that its full potential can be realized as soon as possible. The detailed details of the agreement will be made public after the completion of these processes.

Emphasizing on energy security, the Minister clarified that security of energy needs of 140 crore Indians is the top priority of the government. He said that diversification of energy sources in line with changing geopolitical circumstances, market objectives and circumstances is the basis of the government’s functioning.

This agreement will give impetus to the goal of developed India

Describing this agreement as historical and structural, Goyal said that it is a big step to further strengthen India-US relations and accelerate the journey of Developed India 2047. He said this reflects the strong ties between the world’s two largest democracies, working together as natural partners for shared prosperity.

Solar Storm: 27 solar storms arose from the Sun in 24 hours, how much danger is there to the Earth, why the tension increased

0

A very large and dangerous sunspot formed on the Sun is increasing the concern of scientists these days. This sunspot has been named Region 4366. In the past two days, it has released several bright solar flares, including some of the most powerful in recent years. According to the Space Weather Prediction Center of the American agency NOAA, geomagnetic activity on Earth may increase on February 5. Due to this, Northern Lights i.e. Aurora can be visible even in normal areas, although this has not been completely confirmed yet.

Region 4366 suddenly emerged on the surface of the Sun a few days ago and spread very rapidly. Its size is said to be approximately half the size of the sunspot of the historic Carrington Event of 1859. The storm that came at that time had a huge impact on the earth. Due to its rapid growth, this sunspot has become extremely unstable. In the last 24 hours alone, more than 20 solar flares have emerged from it, which include many M-class and X-class flares. X-class flames are considered the most powerful.

Biggest solar explosion in two years

On Sunday at around 6:57 pm, a solar flare of X8.1 category emerged from this sunspot. This is considered to be the fastest blaze since October 2024. After this, interruption in radio communications was recorded in the South Pacific area. With this explosion, a large cloud of gas and particles also came out from the Sun, which is called Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). Scientists believe that if this CME passes near the Earth, there may be a disturbance in the Earth’s magnetic field. Due to this, colorful auroras can be seen in the sky. However, there may also be problems with radio, GPS and satellite systems. According to NASA, the Sun is currently in the fastest phase of its 11-year active cycle, which may continue until 2026. More such solar storms may be seen in the coming times.

Clouds rush to deliver OpenClaw-as-a-service offerings • The Register

0

If you’re brave enough to want to run the demonstrably insecure AI assistant OpenClaw, several clouds have already started offering it as a service.

OpenClaw, the name its developer Peter Steinberger settled on after changing from Clawdbot to Moltbot, is a platform for AI agents. Users can provide it with their credentials to various online services and prompt OpenClaw to operate them by issuing instructions in messaging apps like Telegram or WhatsApp. Steinberger says it “clears your inbox, sends emails, manages your calendar, checks you in for flights.”

Using OpenClaw’s AI features requires access to an AI model, either by connecting to an API or by running one locally. The latter possibility apparently sparked a rush to buy Apple’s $599 Mac Mini.

OpenClaw is new and largely untested – just the sort of workload that cloud operators have long said they excel at hosting so users can gather some experience before moving to production.

Clouds were therefore quick to develop OpenClaw-as-a-service oferings.

China’s Tencent Cloud was an early mover, last week delivering a one-click install tool for its Lighthouse service – an offering that allows users to deploy a small server and install an app or environment and run it for a few dollars a month.

DigitalOcean delivered a similar set of instructions a couple of days later, and aimed them at its Droplets IaaS offering.

Alibaba Cloud launched its offering today and made it available in 19 regions, starting at $4/month, and using its simple application server – its equivalent of Lighthouse or Droplets. Interestingly, the Chinese giant says it will soon offer OpenClaw on its Elastic Compute Service – its full-fat IaaS equivalent to AWS EC2 – and on its Elastic Desktop Service, suggesting the chance to rent a cloudy PC to run an AI assistant.

Kill it with fire

Analyst firm Gartner has used uncharacteristically strong language to recommend against using OpenClaw.

In new advice titled “OpenClaw Agentic Productivity Comes With Unacceptable Cybersecurity Risk,” the firm describes the software as “a dangerous preview of agentic AI, demonstrating high utility but exposing enterprises to ‘insecure by default’ risks like plaintext credential storage.”

“Shadow deployment of OpenClaw creates single points of failure, as compromised hosts expose API keys, OAuth tokens, and sensitive conversations to attackers,” the firm adds, before recommending that businesses should immediately block OpenClaw downloads and traffic and stop traffic to the software.

Next, search for any users accessing OpenClaw and tell them to stop because using the software probably involves breaching security controls.

If you must run it, Gartner recommends doing so only in isolated nonproduction virtual machines with throwaway credentials.

“It is not enterprise software. There is no promise of quality, no vendor support, no SLA… it ships without authentication enforced by default. It is not a SaaS product that you can manage via a corporate admin panel,” Gartner advises.

The firm also recommends rotating any credentials OpenClaw touches, as the AI tool’s use of plaintext storage and shabby security mean there’s a chance malefactors can use the login details for evil. So maybe don’t rush to use those cloudy OpenClaw services at work? Or anywhere? ®

Indian government urges Australia to ‘hold the culprits accountable’ over theft of Gandhi statue in Melbourne | Melbourne

0

The Indian government has condemned the theft of a bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi from a community centre in Melbourne’s south-east last month, calling for the culprits to be held accountable.

Victoria police are investigating the theft from the Australian Indian Community Centre in Rowville and have warned scrap metal dealers to be wary of people trying to sell the statue of the Indian independence leader.

On Tuesday night, the spokesperson for India’s ministry of external affairs, Randhir Jaiswa, said the government had raised the matter with Australia.

“We strongly condemn the vandalization and removal of the Mahatma Gandhi statue located at the Australian Indian Community Centre in Rowville, Melbourne by unidentified people,” he said in a statement posted to social media.

“We have strongly raised the matter with Australian authorities and urged them to take immediate action to recover the missing statue and hold the culprits accountable.”

Vasan Srinivasan, chair of the Australian Indian Community Charitable Trust, which owns the centre, said the Indian government donated the statue to the centre in 2021.

He described Gandhi as an “icon of India” who believed in “people power”.

“We have lost it now. There is only one in Victoria,” he said.

While Australia’s Indian diaspora has been singled out by anti-immigration rallies, Srinivasan said he did not believe the theft was motivated by racism, noting there was no slogan or graffiti at the scene.

The statue was subjected to an attempted beheading in 2021 on the same day the then prime minister Scott Morrison unveiled the statue.

Srinivasan said the statue had also been vandalised with anti-Gandhi and anti-Indian graffiti in 2023 and 2024, with the centre later removing it.

Statues of Gandhi have also been the subject of controversy overseas, with some activists pointing to Gandhi’s “well-documented anti-black racism”.

Gandhi, who died in 1948, is recognised as a key leader in India’s independence movement, renowned for his philosophy of non-violent resistance.

The Victorian premier, Jacinta Allan, condemned the theft.

“We stand with Victoria’s Indian community at this time,” she said in a statement.

“Victoria is a proudly multicultural state and there is zero tolerance for any acts that target and disrespect cultural monuments.”

Evan Mulholland, Victoria’s opposition spokesperson for multicultural affairs, expressed “deep support and solidarity” with the state’s Indian-Australian community.

“Our multicultural communities should feel safe and respected in every suburb of this state,” he said.

A Victoria police spokesperson said they believed three people were involved in the statue’s theft.

“Officers were told the offenders used an angle grinder to cut the statue,” the spokesperson said.

Victoria’s multicultural affairs minister has been contacted for comment.
