No two Olympic medals are earned the same way.

Sweden had a chance to secure a gold medal in the women’s 4 x 7.5 km relay, but Ebba Andersson crashed hard and flipped over. When Andersson got up, she realized she had lost her right ski and couldn’t put it back on.

She then plodded along with one ski, carrying the other under her arm, while waiting for Sweden’s ski technician to reach her with a new ski. The hectic scene unfolded as Andersson was attempting to keep Sweden’s place on the podium.

Making matters worse, the ski technician, while running to catch up with Andersson, also fell in the snow to delay them even further.

“She’s fallen again,” BBC commentator Rob Walker said as the mishap occurred, via the New York Post. “An absolute disaster – and she’s lost a ski. She’s doing her level best to catch it up.”

“What a nightmare this has turned out to be for the Swede. It’s all been going so well so far. Frida Karlsson (Andersson’s teammate) can barely bring herself to look.”

“And what an effort from Andersson. She’s running. She’s running with the ski under her arm. Desperate to give Karlsson at least something to aim at.”

The crash and subsequent time without a ski dropped Sweden to seventh, but they rallied to finish in second and win a silver medal. Norway beat Sweden by 50.9 seconds, finishing with a time of 1:15:44.8 to secure the gold medal.

Despite recovering enough to land a silver medal, Andersson was distraught about the crash.

“My body is ok, but my heart is not,” Andersson said. “I can’t blame anyone but myself. I didn’t act well enough in that moment. Then we had the worst possible bad luck with the broken ski. It was mostly panic and chaos through that entire leg.”

Hungary’s Orban says EU bigger threat than Russia before April elections | Politics News

0

‘Illiberal’ PM, endorsed by ally Trump this week, to receive US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban says his country should fear the European Union more than Russia while promising to clear away the EU’s “oppressive machinery” before what looks will be heated parliamentary elections.

Delivering his annual state-of-the-nation speech on Saturday, Orban pledged to push out “the foreign influence that limits our sovereignty together with its agents” as the opposition Tisza Party maintains an 8 to 12 percentage point lead over Orban’s ruling Fidesz party eight weeks from the April 12 elections.

“Fear-mongering about [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is primitive and unserious. Brussels, however, is a palpable reality and a source of imminent danger,” said the 62-year-old leader, who compared the EU to the repressive Soviet regime that dominated Hungary for decades last century.

Since returning to power for a second time in 2010, Orban has waged a campaign against “pseudo-civil organisations”, “bought journalists”, judges and politicians in his drive to build what he calls an “illiberal state”.

His crackdown on immigration has provided a blueprint for right-wing leaders, such as United States President Donald Trump.

‘War or peace’?

In Saturday’s speech, Orban signalled his work of clearing liberal forces from the country is only “half-done”, noting that Trump, who is backing him to win the upcoming vote, “rebelled against the liberals’ global-scale business, media and political network, thereby improving our chances as well”.

On Friday, Trump posted a new endorsement of Orban on his Truth Social platform, saying he’s a “truly strong and powerful leader with a proven track record of delivering phenomenal results”.

The US president’s comments came as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio prepares to visit Hungary on Sunday. Rubio will fly in from the Munich Security Conference in Germany with a stopover in Slovakia for talks with nationalist Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Orban, who has cultivated warm relations with Putin during his current stretch in power, this week cast the April elections as a stark choice between “war or peace”, warning in a Facebook post that Peter Magyar’s Tisza Party would drag the country into the conflict raging next door in Ukraine.

The prime minister has doubled down on his strategy of portraying Magyar as a “Brussels puppet” with billboards depicting him saying “yes” to a demand for “Money for Ukraine!” from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Canada faces renewed curling cheating allegations from Swiss team

0

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Canada has faced renewed accusations of cheating after a member of the Swiss men’s curling team raised concerns of double-touching during their round-robin game on Saturday. The allegations came shortly after World Curling made adjustments to officiating following the first claims made against Canada’s Marc Kennedy.

Switzerland became the sole unbeaten team at Milan Cortina after defeating Canada 9-5 in their fourth straight win, but the victory did not come without controversy.

Swiss curler Pablo Lachat-Couchepin was captured on the broadcast talking to his coach during a fifth-end break in which he mentioned that he witnessed double-touching.

“I don’t want to focus too much on it, but he double-touched, and the referee saw it,” he said, according to The Toronto Star. It was unclear if those concerns were raised to officials.

The controversy even bled onto the women’s side on Saturday.

Canadian curler Rachel Homan had her stone removed after an official ruled that she had touched it again after releasing the handle. Homan protested, but per World Curling’s rules, there are no official replays and the official’s final call stands.

According to The Athletic, video replay of the incident did show Homan’s finger grazing the rock.

The new accusations came after World Curling released a statement addressing the claims first made by Sweden on Friday and Kennedy’s subsequent reaction, which was captured on the live broadcast.

WORLD CURLING FINDS NO VIOLATIONS AFTER CHEATING ALLEGATIONS ROCK CANADA-SWEDEN CURLING MATCH

“Game Umpires are situated at the end of each sheet and physically cannot see every delivery infraction. However, when they are made aware of delivery issues, game umpires are positioned to observe the delivery for three ends. During this period of observation in the Friday evening game, there were no violations recorded,” the statement began.

The sports governing body also addressed two rule concerns including “double-touching” and touching the granite. According to the rules, players can retouch the handle multiple times, but “touching the handle after the hog line is not allowed and will result in the stone being removed from play.” Additionally, the stone will be removed from play if the granite of the stone is touched at all during “forward motion.”

As a result of the allegations, World Curling said that two officials will be positioned to observe all deliveries beginning with Saturday’s games.

Kennedy vehemently denied the accusations made by Sweden’s Oskar Eriksson at the time, saying, “Who’s doing it? I haven’t done it once, you can f— off.”

Canada was issued a verbal warning for Kennedy’s language, which he apologized for on Saturday – but the apologies ended there.

“I probably could’ve handled myself better in the moment,” he told CBC. “I know I’m a role model for Canadian curlers, so if I apologize at all, it’s to the young curlers around the country that would’ve expected more from me in that moment.”

Kennedy went on to say he was defending himself and his team when their integrity came under criticism, and went on to further accuse Sweden of being in the wrong, saying he believed they “premeditated planning to try to catch us.”

“They’ve come up with a plan to catch teams in the act,” Kennedy said.

Ukraine wants 20-year US security guarantee to sign peace deal | Ukraine

0

Ukraine wants security guarantees for a minimum of 20 years from the US before it can sign a peace deal with dignity, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said ahead of talks next week with Russia and the US.

He was speaking in Munich on Saturday where he also called for a clear date for Ukraine to be allowed to join the EU. Some EU officials have put the date as early as 2027.

Speaking to the annual Munich security summit, Ukraine’s president said he hoped “the trilateral meetings next week will be serious, substantive, helpful for all us but honestly sometimes it feels like the sides are talking about completely different things”.

“The Americans often return to the topic of concessions and too often those concessions are discussed only in the context of Ukraine, not Russia,” he added.

The issue of Europe’s frustration with a perceived US reluctance to spell out the security guarantees it is prepared to offer Ukraine in the event of a peace deal, and the need for the guarantees to be spelled out before an agreement is signed, likely remains the biggest wound in the badly fractured relationship between the US and Europe.

In a speech that was welcomed by European leaders keen to see any sign of a thaw in the relationship, the US secretary of state, Marco Rubio, put forward an offer to work in partnership with Europe.

However, this proposition, he stressed, was highly conditional and the US would go it alone if Washington’s highly Trumpian conditions were not met on climate, migration and tariffs.

Using a diplomatic tone that the US vice-president, , shunned in his speech at the conference a year ago, Rubio said “Europe and the US belong together”. He added that the US was ready to undertake the task of rebuilding the world order alone if necessary, but “we prefer it – and hope – to do it together with you, our friends in Europe”.

He made almost no reference to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, besides claiming that the US had pressed India to stop importing Russian oil, a claim Russia disputes.

At a press conference in Munich, Zelenskyy said the US had told him that if Ukraine withdraw from the Donbas, peace would come as quickly as possible, but he insisted this concession was not possible since Ukrainians live there.

He disclosed that the US had so far offered a 15-year security guarantee, but Ukraine wanted a minimum 20-year, legally water-tight agreement, setting out the specific help the US would provide to a planned European reassurance force due to be put inside Ukraine in the event of a peace deal.

Details of a so-called prosperity plan whereby the US would have access to Ukrainian mineral resources had not yet been exchanged, Zelenskyy said.

He also queried why the head of the Russian negotiation delegation had been changed, saying he feared it meant the Russians were playing for time, rather than shifting strategy.

Zelenskyy also complained about Europe having been practically absent from the table. “That’s a big mistake, in my opinion,” he said, a view that was shared by the Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi.

On Friday, Donald Trump called on Zelenskyy to “get moving” to reach an agreement with Russia. Zelenskyy insisted that the elections that the US has pressed Ukraine to hold by 15 May can only take place two months after a ceasefire is declared, to ensure voters have adequate security.

Trump has been trying to put pressure on Zelenskyy to agree a deal within months, but has not spelled out the consequences if Ukraine is not sufficiently flexible for the US.

Zelenskyy also said the Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy plants would be raised in the talks in Geneva, adding that not a single energy plant inside Ukraine had now been left unscathed.

European leaders appear gloomy that a diplomatic breakthrough will be secured, with the consensus that Putin is not yet economically or militarily exhausted.

Zelenskyy said his ambition was to lift the number of Russians killed or seriously injured to 50,000 a month.

One European leader predicted at least another two years of war, and insisted Europe had the resources to sustain Ukraine for that long.

Zelenskyy also mounted a fierce attack on the Iranian regime for providing the Shahed drones that had caused so much damage inside Ukraine.

With as many as 200,000 protesters attending a demonstration in Munich calling for the Iranian regime to be toppled, Zelenskyy said: “We have never had a conflict of interests with the Iranian regime. But the Iranian Shahed drones they sold to Russia are killing our people and destroying our infrastructure.”

He argued that if Iran is given time, it will cause more destruction. “Regimes like the one in Iran must not be given time. When they have time, they only kill more.

“They must be stopped immediately, and this is exactly what should have happened with the Ayatollah after all the wars his regime unleashed and all the lives it took.”

Rental ebike programs booming in Australian cities as e-scooter ‘moral panic’ sees take-up stall | Consumer affairs

0

Rental ebikes are booming in popularity as e-scooter hire operations decline across Australia amid what some have labelled a “moral panic” over safety.

The ebike boom has been led by Sydney, where the number of vehicles on streets nearly doubled in 2025 as US operator Lime deployed thousands more.

E-scooter hire had been faster to take off around Australia than ebikes, with all capital cities bar Sydney permitting the devices in early 2025. Operations froze over the course of the year due to safety concerns, shrinking access and unpopularity.

Major operator Neuron and its subsidiary Beam reduced their combined fleets by nearly a tenth over the year, to about 12,500 e-scooters across 24 locations.

Perth pulled about 1,000 rental e-scooters from its streets after a man died in an e-scooter crash. A subsequent Western Australian inquiry found e-mobility could be brought back in under tight regulation.

In Bendigo, Beam’s 250 scooters were pulled from streets after users took less than 55,000 trips, missing expectations, while the City of Adelaide said its 2,000-strong fleet saw ridership slide from 543,000 trips to 514,000, from 2024 to 2025.

Sign up: AU Breaking News email

Neuron and Lime pulled scooters from Melbourne’s Yarra area after the council hiked fees, having already being forced out of the city’s CBD in 2024.

Stephen Coulter, an industry consultant with Zipidi, blamed the e-scooter slowdown on a “moral panic” over safety and injuries.

“You’ve had moral panic, which has caused some [local governments] to overreact, like the City of Melbourne, who just withdrew them overnight back in September 2024,” he said.

Coulter said state governments could help e-scooters return in 2026, with the Victorian and New South Wales governments approving share scheme operators, while WA and Queensland to respond to state inquiries.

In the meantime, residents in Melbourne had swapped to Lime’s ebikes, Coulter said.

“Bikes are picking up in the absence of scooters and the operators are becoming better at aligning them with customer need,” he said.

Cities that previously only adopted e-scooters have moved towards bikes. Hobart adopting Beam bikes in May, Canberra invited applications for ebike and e-scooter operations and Adelaide will issue a similar invitation this year.

Lime’s Asia Pacific head, Will Peters, said the company was disheartened when Melbourne forced out its e-scooters but was hopeful of growing its ebike offering.

It is capped at operating 1,200 ebikes across inner Melbourne but recently debuted bikes and scooters in the Darebin municipality and is watching for a chance to expand into nearby Merri-bek.

Peters said Lime had seen the greatest uptake in Sydney, where e-scooter use is illegal, including for shared schemes.

It more than doubled its Sydney fleet to at least 7,000 ebikes over 2025, according to Guardian Australia analysis of public data, though industry sources have suggested the true figure could be higher than 10,000. The company declined to share fleet data.

Lime is bidding to boost ridership further in Sydney, offering redesigned bikes and subscriber discounts as it negotiates to expand as far west as Parramatta.

“How do we make Sydney the best market?” Peters said. “I think we can be bigger than London, we can be bigger than Paris.”

Ebikes boomed in Paris after the first European city to invite shared e-scooters also became the first to ban them in 2023.

Sydney’s lack of scooters has similarly supported rapid growth in rental ebike use, with 600,000 NSW residents now using a shared ebike monthly – 100,000 more than in October, government data suggests.

The City of Sydney reported shared ebike trips in the CBD nearly doubled in 2025, to 3.7m. Demand has attracted competition, with HelloRide operating 3,000 ebikes and Ario bringing a fleet of 2,700 since it entered in late 2024.

Shared bikes are legal for road use, restricted to speeds of 25km/h and power of 250 watts, unlike illegal and modified ebikes which have attracted government crackdowns amid a nationwide surge in injuries.

E-scooters and other personal mobility devices were involved in 10 deaths and 440 crashes in Queensland in 2025, preliminary police data shows. Legal ebikes, both privately owned and rented, were involved in four deaths and 235 crashes.

Shared ebikes’ relative safety compared to escooters had encouraged customers to swap, according to Adam Rossetto, general manager of Ario, which also operates scooters in far north Queensland.

“Ebikes are coming back into the fore,” Rossetto said.

“They provide a more traditional approach to mobility … that delivers less stupidity, I think, from a section of users.”

Eduardo Bolsonaro speaks on his brother Flavio’s 2026 presidential campaign

0

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

FIRST ON FOX: Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of the currently incarcerated former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, is a man on an unofficial diplomatic mission in the United States. His objective is to free his father, who is currently serving a 27-year sentence at the Federal Police headquarters in the nation’s capital.

Convicted on charges of plotting a coup d’état, leading an armed criminal organization and attempting to violently abolish the democratic rule of law, Jair Bolsonaro remains a popular yet controversial figure in Brazil, and who still commands a devoted following nationwide, especially in the southern strongholds of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Eduardo Bolsonaro has pursued a “maximum pressure campaign” against the current Brazilian regime on behalf of his father, lobbying the Trump administration for sanctions against the country, and for Magnitsky sanctions against the head of the Brazilian Supreme Court Alexandre de Moraes.

RUBIO WARNS BRAZIL OF US RESPONSE AFTER BOLSONARO’S CONVICTION FOR PLOTTING A COUP

In 2022, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva narrowly defeated incumbent Bolsonaro in the closest election since Brazil’s 1985 return to democracy. This followed Lula’s dramatic release from prison by the Brazilian Supreme Court in 2019, where he was serving a sentence for corruption.

While many expected São Paulo Governor Tarcisio de Freitas to run in 2026, he declined, clearing the way for the former president’s other son, Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro, who declared his candidacy last December.

Speaking to Fox News Digital at the Hispanic Prosperity Gala at Mar-a-Lago Eduardo Bolsonaro discussed the present situation.

“A lot of polls are showing that my brother, Senator Flavio (Bolsonaro), is tied and some of them he’s a little bit ahead… Flavio just launched, just announced that he is going to run. It was a big decision that Jair Bolsonaro took, recognizing that it would be impossible for him to run in the October election, for sure, because he’s in jail now. Unfairly, but he is. This is a fact.”

Eduardo Bolsonaro believes the nation’s economic and security issues will propel his brother to victory.

“The strategy of Flavio is to show how bad the Lula administration is, mainly in economy and also in security. These are areas where Flavio is doing very well… everybody’s fed up with Lula supporting Hamas, increasing criminality, and not doing a great job in the economic area. So, Flavio, for sure his focus is going to be on the economy and security to defeat Lula.”

While Flavio Bolsonaro and Lula are clearly the top two contenders, several other right-wing and center-right candidates have entered the race, including Minas Gerais Governor Romeu Zema, Parana Governor Ratinho Junior and Goias Governor Ronaldo Caiado.

Eduardo Bolsonaro dismisses concerns that the current electoral scenario could split the vote and lead to a first-round electoral victory for Lula.

“It doesn’t matter who is going to the second round; against Lula, everybody will be together. Because we all know that the worst that can happen to the country is the re-election of Lula da Silva. So these polls that are trying to say that Lula… can win in the first round, if the right-wing movement splits the votes between these candidates, this is a lie. For sure, this is not going to happen.”

“And for sure, it’s very good that we have more candidates on the right-wing… Why? Because they will all criticize Lula da Silva. So, even Flavio is publicly saying that it would be a good thing to do to support more and more candidates for the right… against Lula.”

JIM CAVIEZEL STARRING IN BOLSONARO BIOPIC AS SON OF JAILED FORMER PRESIDENT LAUNCHES 2026 CAMPAIGN

While former president Bolsonaro is incarcerated, his movement enjoys strong support in the Brazilian Congress, which recently passed legislation that would dramatically cut his prison sentence.

However, Lula vetoed the legislation in January, which means that Congress may now seek to override that veto. Additionally, the Supreme Court, which is unfavorably disposed to Bolsonaro, may also review the legislation on grounds of constitutionality.

Trump and Moraes

“Everything that the Supreme Court does not like, they say that this is against our constitution. It’s the way that they try to get all of the power over the legislative [branch], and even sometimes the executive power. So, this is one more chapter of this long invasion by the judiciary… Lula da Silva doing the veto against this bill that was approved by the Congress only shows that he is always speaking with the left-wing bubble, he’s talking to the radical left people.”

Eduardo Bolsonaro believes the Brazilian people support his father over the Supreme Court, and points out that his father was not even present in Brazil for the Jan. 8 riots.

“In Brazil they do not approve [of the veto], they are fed up with all of this… On the very same day [Jan. 8, 2023]… the ‘protest dictator’, Jair Bolsonaro, was in Orlando, in Disney World. So everybody knows this is a fake thing and no one can support any more debates around this.”

Lula, Bolsonaro, Trump

“That’s why Jair Bolsonaro is in jail because if he wasn’t convicted to 27 years in jail, he would be free to run, and for sure he would be the next president of Brazil. That’s the only reason that he is in jail: because of political reasons. That is why when Flavio Bolsonaro gets elected in October and changes the political scenario, this will also change the scenario inside the judiciary of Brazil.”

Eduardo Bolsonaro is entirely focused on his brother Flavio’s 2026 presidential campaign as the means to freeing his father from prison.

“Now, I only have one role… electing Flávio Bolsonaro, and he will give the pardon to Jair. Not only to Jair, but also to me. I am accused of committing crimes in the United States because I was talking with authorities, American authorities, and they consider this an attack against the sovereignty of Brazil.”

“The judge of the Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, who got sanctioned by the Trump administration with the support of Scott Bessent and Marco Rubio, he blames me for that. But as he does not have the courage to sue Trump, Bessent and Rubio, he’s suing me for that. So we hope that Flavio is going to get elected and then as president he has the power to pardon me, my father and more than 400 conservative people that are in jail.”

While the Bolsonaros have historically performed very well in the vote-rich and wealthy southern states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais, they have underperformed in Brazil’s poorer Northeast region, which is where Lula is originally from.

Yet, Bolsonaro promises a strong showing nationwide, and says that voters in the Northeast are ready for a change:

“It’s bringing the truth. People nowadays know that the ‘assistencialismo’ (populist social assistance for purposes of vote-buying), that is the way that Lula gets this high amount of votes in the Northeast of Brazil.”

“We are also going strong in the Northeast. The Northeast, you’re going to see, it’s not anymore a region of Brazil that is under the [control of] Lula.”

Eduardo Bolsonaro weighed in on recent U.S. military action in Venezuela, and pledged a renewed U.S.-Brazilian geopolitical relationship, and full support for American action against Communist regimes:

“Maduro is not the president anymore and in Nicaragua Daniel Ortega arrested seven opponents… that were running for president. How can you consider this a democracy? So, for sure, it’s not a democracy. There is no difference between these guys and Chapo or Pablo Escobar. The difference is only that Nicolás Maduro and Daniel Ortega took over the country, they took over the institutions.”

“So everybody, not only Venezuela, but also Brazil, is really happy that the great military of the United States arrested Maduro… It’s bringing hope to the people. And for sure, we do support them, not only in public… but also in international forums.”

IND vs PAK T20 World Cup: Abhishek Sharma returns… Team India ready to beat Pakistan again, just wait for a few hours

0

New Delhi. The Indian cricket team captained by Suryakumar Yadav will face Pakistan today (Sunday) in the T20 World Cup. This high voltage match between the two teams will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The teams of India and Pakistan are clashing in this match after winning two matches each. The winning team will get the ticket for Super 8. India defeated USA in its first match and Namibia in the second match. Team India is at the first position in the Group A points table with 4 points from two wins. India’s netrunrate is the highest in this group at 3.050. Pakistan also has four points in 2 matches but its net run rate is 0.932 which is less than India, hence it is second after India in the points table. There are only a few hours left for this great match to begin.

The best thing for India is that Abhishek Sharma has proved his fitness. His return to Team India’s playing eleven against Pakistan is almost certain. Due to stomach infection, Abhishek could not play the match against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. But a day before the match against Pakistan, he batted in the nets for about 30 minutes where he was hitting long sixes. Looking at him, it did not seem that he is batting after a long time. With Abhishek returning to the playing eleven, Sanju Samson will have to sit out. Captain Suryakumar Yadav has also hinted at Abhishek’s return.

India-Pakistan head to head
In the T20 World Cup, India has maintained its strong lead over Pakistan (IND vs PAK T20 World Cup Head To Head). Team India has been defeating Pakistan in most of the matches. In the history of this mega tournament which started in 2007, India has won 7 out of 8 matches played against Pakistan. Talking about the overall T20 matches between India and Pakistan, out of the 16 T20 matches played between the two teams so far, India has won 13 matches, while Pakistan has won only three matches. In the eight T20 World Cup matches played between India and Pakistan, Pakistan has won only once, which was in the 2021 World Cup held in Dubai, where they won by 10 wickets.

Toss may be delayed due to rain
There is a threat of rain on the India-Pakistan (IND vs PAK Weather Forecast) match. Nobel laureate transferred to prison in northern Iran without warning | Iran

Iranian authorities have without prior warning transferred Nobel peace prize laureate Narges Mohammadi to a prison in the north of the country as concern grows over her health, her family said on Saturday.

Mohammadi, who won the peace prize in 2023 in recognition for more than two decades of campaigning, was arrested on 12 December in the eastern city of Mashhad after speaking out against Iran’s clerical authorities at a funeral ceremony.

She spent time on hunger strike earlier this month and had been hospitalised before being returned to prison.

The Norwegian Nobel committee said this week it was “deeply appalled” by reports detailing “physical abuse and ongoing life-threatening mistreatment” of Mohammadi during her arrest and in detention.

After her arrest, Mohammadi had been held in Mashhad at the detention facility of the intelligence ministry,

But she has now been transferred to a prison in the city of Zanjan in the north of the country, said her husband, Taghi Rahmani, who is based in Paris.

“This action was carried out without informing her family or her lawyer,” he said on X, adding it was “intended to exile and displace Narges”.

Mohammadi’s foundation, which is run by her supporters and family, said she had been transferred on Tuesday but she had only been able to reveal the news on Saturday in a phone call with her Iranian lawyer, Mostafa Nili.

Since her arrest in December, she has only been allowed one phone call with a brother inside Iran and now just two more with her Iranian lawyer.

“In our short conversation, she spoke of the violence inflicted during her arrest, the pressure of interrogations, and particularly severe blows to her head,” Nili wrote in a post on X.

“These blows have resulted in dizziness, double vision and blurred vision. Bruises and marks of severe physical assault remain on her body,” he added.

Mohammadi was arrested before protests erupted nationwide later in December. The movement peaked in January, with authorities launching a crackdown that activists say has left thousands dead.

Earlier this month she was handed a further six years in prison on charges of harming national security and a one-and-a-half-year prison sentence for propaganda against Iran’s Islamic system. She also went on hunger strike for almost a week to protest her conditions of detention.

Over the past quarter of a century, Mohammadi, 53, has been repeatedly tried and jailed for her campaigning against Iran’s use of capital punishment and the mandatory dress code for women.

She was born in Zanjan but resident in Tehran. Her foundation said she had on two occasions during previous jail stints been transferred to Zanjan prison where she suffered ill treatment.
