It was fun watching and listening to videos with the phone’s display and speakers. But the left and right channels are not well balanced. The gaming performance of the phone is quite good. However, the best experience was not found in most heavy games like Asphalt 9: Legends and Call of Duty Mobile. Close-up shots of the phone were good and background blur was also well maintained. Portrait shots were sharp and edge detection was good with no background blur. Macro shots came out average and the resolution was only 2 megapixels.

The phone’s low-light camera performance in regular photo mode was quite average. Photos looked soft and distant objects had a water color-like effect. Not much difference was visible even when using night mode. Even though it brought out details in darker areas, there was a yellow tint to it, as if a filter had been used. Selfies looked good even in daylight or low light. Using screen brightness in low-light gave good results. Portrait selfies were good, but the phone was using the beautification filter by default.
The phone can record video up to 1080p with the primary camera and selfie camera. By default it does not stabilize the footage. It has an Ultra Steady mode, which crops the frame slightly to stabilize the footage, which makes the video better. Light grains were visible in low-light footage.

The Motorola Edge 30 Pro is the first smartphone I used with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The processor is very fast and whenever I tried to do something on it, the activity loaded instantly. Scrolling was very smooth thanks to its 144Hz display. The AMOLED panel of the phone shows attractive colors and the contrast is also quite good. The experience of watching videos with the help of stereo speakers was also good. One thing I noticed is that the speakers are not well balanced. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner felt a little out of reach, but was easily able to unlock the phone accurately.

The phone scored quite well on benchmark apps. Its score on AnTuTu was 9,41,189. The phone scored 1,194 in the single-core test of Geekbench 5 and 3,542 in the multi-core test. It managed to maintain 81 frames per second in GFXBench’s Car Chase test. Here I noticed that the phone was getting hot due to the load on the processor. Due to this the battery was also draining quickly.

No lag was observed while playing Call Of Duty: Mobile. The fun in the game doubled due to stereo speakers. However, after 20 minutes I found that the phone had become hot and the battery was also quite drained. Looking at its benchmark test and gaming experience, I can say that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is a very powerful processor. But when there is load, its efficiency starts decreasing slightly.

As for battery, the phone lasted 13 hours and 38 minutes in our HD video loop test, which is a pretty average performance considering its battery capacity. With full charge, I was able to use it throughout the day under normal use. But when using the camera and gaming, I soon felt the need to charge it. With 68W fast charging, the phone got 78 percent charged in 30 minutes and was fully charged within an hour.

The phone has three high resolution cameras, of which the highest resolution is a 60 megapixel selfie camera. There is a 50-megapixel primary camera in the rear, which comes with optical image stabilization. Its aperture is f/1.8. Details are good in photos taken during day time and this phone is quite fast in terms of focus. The dynamic range of the photo is quite good. The primary camera and wide angle camera capture good colors, but details were lacking and barrel distortion was also visible.

Close shots taken with the phone’s camera were quite good and textures were also maintained well. The phone would prompt to switch to macro mode when the subject came too close. Since it uses a 50-megapixel camera for macro shots, the results were captured with great detail. Edge detection in portrait shots was also good.

Low-light photos weren’t impressive and the phone was unable to capture details in dark areas of the frame. With Night mode on, it was taking 3 seconds to capture a photo but the highlights would be missed. I thought it better to take a regular shot instead of night mode, because there was not much difference in details with night mode.

The photo taken from the selfie camera was quite good. Photos came out better even during the day and in low light. The phone was also able to capture selfie portraits better. The results were better when shooting in low light with extra light source.

With the primary rear camera, Motorola Edge 30 Pro can shoot videos up to 8K. But videos can be shot only up to 4K with the selfie camera. The sharpness of footage shot at 1080p in daylight was a bit excessive, but 4K footage was better. Video stabilization was good. Low-light footage was also fine, but there was more grain when shooting in 4K.

Verdict

Motorola Edge 30 Pro smartphone has come as a big upgrade of Edge 20 Pro. It can compete even in the price segment above its price. The highlight of the phone is its processor. If we leave aside the need for improvement in low-light conditions, the camera performance will also be said to be good. The main camera of the phone is slightly protruding from the other cameras. The phone does not seem stable when kept on a flat surface.

Games ran fine, but some heavy games could only run at low graphic settings. For example, the Call of Duty: Mobile game did not offer the option of ‘High’ settings in graphics. The gaming experience was smooth, but not like it usually is.

Xiaomi says that it has a liquid cooling system, which keeps the phone cool during heavy use. But, after playing Call of Duty for 30 minutes, both the back panel and frame of the phone became quite hot. In test scores, the phone performed as expected. Its benchmark scores were lower than the scores of Redmi Note 11T 5G with MediaTek Dimensity 810. The phone scored 3,10,732 on AnTuTu and ran at 51fps on GFXBench’s T-Rex test.

The battery life of the phone is quite good. With a capacity of 5,000mAh, it lasts the whole day. The phone has 33W fast charging support, with the help of which the battery gets charged very quickly.

In bright sunlight, the details in the photo were good, but the saturation of the colors was too high. In low-light, the main sensor seemed to fail to capture good photos. Here, there was not much difference in photo quality even at 108 megapixel resolution. After that using night mode was the last option. After switching to this, the camera took several seconds to take a shot but the detail and exposure became better. One thing that was surprising was that you cannot use night mode with ultrawide or selfie cameras. It hurts a lot.
Talking about its 8 megapixel ultrawide camera, the colors looked correct in the photos taken during the day time which is a good thing. In low-light, the photos became quite blurred and the colors were also disappointing. The phone has a 2 megapixel basic macro camera. Therefore its results were also not good. Apart from this, a 2 megapixel depth sensor is also provided.
The selfie camera is 16 megapixels and the results were good in photos during day time. However, the sharpness appeared slightly higher in portraits. Selfies taken indoors with ambient light were much better, but outdoors at night, the photo quality dropped drastically.
The Redmi Note 11S can only record videos up to 1080p. Stabilization is available in video. Video quality was average during daytime. The video quality in low-light was quite poor and was disappointing for a phone in this segment.

Verdict

Regarding Redmi Note 11S, it can be said that it can be an alternative till the arrival of Redmi Note 11 Pro series. Talking about benchmark scores, the phone did not disappoint and performed equal to its rivals. The smartphone score on AnuTu was 5,07,258 points. At the same time, the phone managed to score 818 in a single-core test on Geekbench and 2,316 in multi-core test. Even after unwanted apps, the Realme UI 3.0 was very smooth and the experience on the user interface was fun with a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

The gaming performance of the phone was also very good. Call of Duty: ‘Medium’ graphics and ‘very high’ frame rate in mobile phones went on without any hassle. To check the battery life, I passed Realme 9 Pro+ through a video loop test, and it lasted for 23 hours 36 minutes, which is quite a good thing. With the help of 60W charger, the phone ranged from zero to 80 percent in only 30 minutes and was full charge in 50 minutes.
