The Indian team has lost 6 wickets in the second innings.

Perth. Experienced all-rounder Annabel Sutherland scored a century and also took two wickets, due to which Australia took a strong hold on India on the second day of the women’s day-night test match. Due to Sutherland’s excellent inning of 129 runs in 171 balls, Australia scored 323 runs and took a lead of 125 runs in the first innings. This is Sutherland’s fourth century in the last seven innings and third consecutive century. After this, by the end of the day, Australia reduced India to 105 runs by six wickets in the second innings. India is still 20 runs behind Australia.

At the end of the second day’s play, Pratika Rawal (43) and Sneh Rana (14) are at the crease. After doing wonders with the bat, Sutherland also took important wickets of Harmanpreet Kaur (11) and Jemimah Rodrigues (14). He completed his century in 133 balls by hitting fast bowler Kranti Gaur’s short pitch ball over wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh for a boundary. This right-handed batsman, who averaged around 90 in eight Tests, played brilliantly against both fast and spin bowlers.

The Indian team has lost 6 wickets in the second innings.

On the spin of Deepti Sharma, he hit excellent drives between cover and mid-off, while hitting a four on Kranti Gaur’s full length ball towards mid-wicket. A good mix of technique, timing and power was seen in his batting. When Australia started the second day at 96 runs for three wickets, the situation was a bit unstable, but Sutherland strengthened the team by making two important partnerships. Experienced Ellis Perry (76) made a partnership of 128 runs with him for the fourth wicket, which was broken by Deepti by LBWing Perry. Sutherland then added 54 runs with Beth Mooney for the fifth wicket.

Mooney was struggling in the beginning and got two consecutive lives before opening the account, which also included Sneh Rana dropping a simple catch at slip off Deepti’s bowling. As soon as Sutherland was out, India got a chance to make a comeback. She tried to play a shot over long-on on Deepti’s ball, but the ball went into the hands of Harmanpreet. After this, Alana King and Lucy Hamilton scored 20 runs each, taking Australia’s score beyond 300 and increasing the first innings lead to more than 100 runs. Indian batsmen could not make a big partnership even in the second innings.

Smriti Mandhana played the ball of fast bowler Darcy Brown on the stumps, while Shafali Verma was caught by wicketkeeper Beth Mooney while trying to drive the ball going outside the off stump of Lucy Hamilton. Jemima was most disappointed. The right-handed batsman took a risk and tried to play a scoop shot, but the ball went straight into the hands of wicketkeeper Mooney. Left-arm fast bowler Hamilton dismissed Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh in the 24th over, reducing India’s score to 82 runs for six wickets. After this, Pratika and Rana stopped the fall of wickets, but by the end of the day the team’s position had become very weak.
