Officer committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of Haryana Secretariat, was to retire in October

Chandigarh News: An officer has committed suicide by jumping from the Haryana Secretariat building in Chandigarh. The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Das Arora. He was posted as Special Senior Secretary to 2019 batch IAS officer Hitesh Kumar Meena. This incident happened at around 12:24 pm.

According to the information received, Ganesh Das was working in his office as usual. While working, he suddenly went to the roof of the secretariat without telling anyone and jumped down from there. He suffered serious injuries due to the fall. The people present on the spot took him to the hospital but he died.

Police are investigating the matter

Chandigarh Police has taken the body into its custody and kept it in the mortuary of Civil Hospital, Sector 16. No official statement has been issued by the family yet. The police is investigating the matter in depth to find out whether he took this drastic step due to workplace stress or other pressure.

Tried to commit suicide 15 days ago also

Investigation has also revealed that Ganesh Das Arora had tried to commit suicide by jumping from the roof 15 days ago but the people present there at that time had caught him and he was saved. It is being told that he was going to retire in October this year. His wife Uma Arora is posted in the Governor House (Raj Bhawan). It is noteworthy that about a year ago, an employee of the Agriculture Department had ended his life by jumping from the same building.
