Dinesh Karthik picks all-time RCB 11: Before IPL 2026, RCB batting coach Dinesh Karthik has surprised everyone by choosing his ‘all-time eleven’. Karthik has chosen Rajat Patidar, who won the title in 2025, as the captain of the team in place of Virat Kohli. His team includes stalwarts like Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis, but Anil Kumble and Shane Watson have not got a place.

New Delhi. A news has come from the RCB camp which has created a stir in the cricket circles. Team’s batting coach Dinesh Karthik chose his ‘All-Time RCB 11’. But some decisions have been taken which no one expected. The biggest shock is that Virat Kohli is not in command of this team. Rather, it has been handed over to a player whom Karthik has called the ‘most successful captain’ of RCB.

Just before the IPL 2026 season, Dinesh Karthik revealed his favorite RCB XI on Cricbuzz. The impact of the historic title win of the year 2025 was clearly visible in this team of Karthik, where he has given more preference to the current champion players than the old veterans. The most surprising decision of this team was regarding captaincy. Dinesh Karthik has handed over the command of the team to Rajat Patidar. Patidar has been in the team for only 4 years, but he got the reward of winning the first title for RCB under his captaincy in this dream team last season. Karthik said, ‘Virat Kohli led the team for many seasons and was successful, but Rajat Patidar will be my captain. He is RCB’s most successful captain (in terms of title wins) and the impact he has made as a batsman in a short period of time is extraordinary.

Gayle-Faf opener, Kohli at number 3
In batting, Karthik has chosen ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle and Faf du Plessis as openers. This means that IPL’s biggest scorer Virat Kohli has been removed from his favorite opening slot and placed at number 3. Captain Patidar has been placed at number 4 and RCB legend AB de Villiers has been placed at number 5, who is considered the backbone of the team.

‘Impact’ players Jitesh and Krunal Pandya who won the title
Karthik has chosen Jitesh Sharma as wicketkeeper at number 6, who has played only one season for RCB. All-rounder Krunal Pandya has been placed at number 7. Regarding Krunal, Karthik said, ‘If RCB has the trophy today, the major credit for it goes to Krunal’s bowling in the final and his match-winning performance against CSK.’

Siraj and Chahal’s dominance in bowling attack
In bowling, Karthik has created a perfect balance between records and impact. Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal have been selected on the basis of their past records. Whereas in fast bowling, Mohammad Siraj has been given preference over veterans like Vinay Kumar. Josh Hazlewood has made a place in the team as number 11, who played an important role in the victory of IPL 2025.
