All the claims of Haryana School Education Board about conducting cheating and transparent examinations have gone flat in Gohana, Sonipat. Here a shocking scene of cheating was seen during the 10th class mathematics paper.
Parents and relatives were seen hanging on the walls of the school, risking their lives to deliver slips (copies) to the children appearing for the examination in the Government Girls Senior Secondary School. These pictures have exposed the tight-knit system of the district administration and education department.
Section 163 flouted, police became spectators
In the pictures surfaced, it can be clearly seen how a huge crowd of parents is trying to climb the high walls of the school. Surprisingly, Section 163 (Prohibitory Order) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) has been imposed to maintain peace and order outside the examination centres, but it was seen being flouted on the spot. In the pictures, policemen are seen on the rooftop above, while there is a gathering of copycats on the wall below.
Big difference between officials’ claims and reality
While on one hand the pictures are openly testifying to the failure of the administration, on the other hand the officials of the Education Department are still claiming ‘copyless examination’. Sonipat District Education Officer (DEO) Naveen Gulia said that the examinations are being conducted completely free from cheating and cheating is not being allowed under any circumstances.
Strictness will be increased: DEO
DEO Naveen Gulia said that a meeting of all the block officers has been called regarding the examination arrangements and constant coordination is also being established with the police department. He has assured that both the police presence and strictness will be increased with immediate effect in the centers from where the matter of copying or such pictures are emerging. However, this gap between claims and ground reality has left a big question mark on the functioning of the administration.
