Nalanda Temple Incident: Uproar over the statement of the Chairman of the Religious Trust Board on the death of devotees, what did he say?

There was a stampede in the temple of Sheetala Mata in Nalanda, Bihar on Tuesday (March 31, 2026). In this accident, 9 (8 confirmed by the administration, post-mortem of one body was not conducted) devotees were killed. Many were injured. Meanwhile, on Wednesday (April 01, 2026), Bihar State Religious Trust Board Chairman Ranveer Nandan arrived to investigate the matter. During this, while talking to the media, he gave such a statement which shocked the people.

What statement has Ranveer Nandan given?

Ranveer Nandan said, “May God give salvation to those who have died… forgive those who are guilty of this incident.” People are objecting to this statement of Ranveer Nandan. After such a big accident, such statements have increased the anger among the people.

People called such statements unfortunate

Regarding Ranveer Nandan’s statement, the local people and the relatives of the deceased say that while there should be talk of strict action against the administration and people holding responsible positions, giving such an irresponsible statement is very unfortunate.

Case registered against 20 named and 20 unknown

Let us tell you that while taking action in this incident, Deepnagar police station has arrested four people. A case has been registered against 20 named and 20 unidentified people in the police station. Police say that the matter is being investigated seriously. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.

It is noteworthy that after this incident that happened last Tuesday, there was a stir in the district. While the relatives of the deceased are accusing the district administration and the police of negligence, on the other hand the officials say that the temple committee had not given any information to the police about the fair or crowd management.
