
Muzaffarnagar News Today: On December 16, cigarettes of ITC company worth lakhs of rupees were stolen from a truck in Meerapur police station area of Muzaffarnagar. The incident happened when the driver and conductor of the truck had stopped at the hotel to have food. During this time, the miscreants had stolen 126 cartons of cigarettes by placing a canter near the truck.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police immediately registered a case and started investigation. In this sequence, on Tuesday (December 31), on the information of an informer, the police arrested the main gang leader Narendra Pal from Bahsuma Meerut Road. Police have recovered 17 cartons of cigarettes worth Rs 28 lakh and an amount of Rs 50 lakh 70 thousand from the arrested accused.
126 cartons of cigarettes stolen
In this regard, Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Singh said that a vehicle carrying ITC cigarettes was stolen in the Meerapur police station area of Muzaffarnagar district on the intervening night of 16 and 17 December. In which approximately 126 cartons of cigarettes were stolen. Unveiling this incident, Meerapur police has arrested gang leader Narendra Pal.
Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Singh said that 17 cartons of cigarettes worth approximately Rs 28 lakh have been recovered from the arrested Narendra Pal. He told that the accused had sold several cigarette cartons in the open market for Rs 60 lakh. The money received by selling cigarettes has also been recovered, under this an amount of Rs 50 lakh 70 thousand has been recovered.
Search continues for absconding accused
SSP Abhishek Singh said that the police has also recovered the Isar Canter vehicle used in committing the theft. He told that during interrogation it was revealed that another person named Billu was involved with him, who had brought some other people with him. Continuous search is going on for the absconding accused and they will be arrested soon. Apart from this, the amount they received from selling cigarettes will also be recovered.

SSP Abhishek Singh said that this was a case of major theft, in which 126 cartons of cigarettes worth Rs 95 lakh were stolen. The gang was exposed due to the hard work and precise action of the police. For this success, transport owner Harnek Singh has given a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh 51 thousand to the police team. Whereas the SSP has also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 as an official reward to the team.
