The effect of domestic gas crisis arising across the country amid Iran-America tension is now visible in the streets of Muzaffarnagar. There was a huge uproar in Rampuri locality of Nagar Kotwali area on Wednesday when dozens of consumers surrounded the gas vendor accusing him of black marketing of cylinders. Under the leadership of local resident Rajkumar Tomar, consumers have demanded investigation and action from the administration.
The agitating consumers allege that huge rigging is being done in the gas distribution system. A consumer told that he had booked his cylinder two days ago, after which a message of ‘delivery successful’ came on his mobile, but in reality he did not receive the cylinder. Consumers alleged that vendors are filling gas cylinders in tempos and sending them for black marketing at high prices and needy customers are being returned empty handed.
The vendor clarified, Reason given for KYC
On the other hand, gas vendor Vipin Kumar has completely rejected the allegations of black marketing. He told the media that the supply was extremely low and today he had received only 15 cylinders. He said that only those customers who are showing the booking slip are being given priority. Also, the KYC process of the customers is being completed on the spot so that the distribution remains transparent.
Problems increased due to government advisory
It is noteworthy that in view of the gas crisis, the government has issued a new advisory, under which now a cylinder can be booked only after an interval of 25 days. Along with this, strict restrictions have also been imposed on the supply of commercial cylinders. Due to this rule and shortage, a situation of conflict is now arising between the general public and the gas distributors. Residents of Rampuri have warned that if smooth supply of gas is not ensured soon and black marketing is not stopped, they will protest at the District Collectorate.
