
After the attack on an Imam in Muzaffarnagar district of western Uttar Pradesh, an atmosphere of tension has been created in the area. The matter is of Sarwat Kajian locality of Police Station Civil Line area, where on Sunday (08 March) afternoon, some youth stopped him on the road and beat up an Imam. It is being told that this entire incident has also been captured in the CCTV cameras installed nearby.
According to the information, 28 year old Imam Abdul Wahab, a resident of the locality, was going from Peer Wali Mosque after offering namaz. Meanwhile, some youths stopped him on the way and allegedly started beating him. It is alleged that the attackers attacked him several times with hockey sticks and cricket bats, due to which he got seriously injured.
The accused abused and attacked with stones
It is being told that when the Imam protested against this, the accused abused him and also attacked him with stones and bricks. The Imam injured in the attack fell on the road. After committing the incident, all the accused youths fled from the spot. As soon as information about the incident was received, local people gathered at the spot and informed the police.
Injured Imam admitted to hospital
Police reached the spot and got the injured Imam admitted to the district hospital for treatment. Where after first aid, seeing his serious condition, he was referred to Meerut Medical College. In view of the tense situation in the area after the incident, the police have deployed additional police force. Police officers reached the spot and took stock of the situation and appealed to the people to maintain peace.
Police say that the matter is being investigated and the accused will be identified and arrested soon. As a precautionary measure, police surveillance has also been increased in the area.
