Mumbai: Ransom of Rs 20 lakh in the name of Bishnoi gang, trap laid with ‘Lalpari’ codeword, 4 arrested

A sensational case of demanding ransom of Rs 20 lakh from a renowned jewelery businessman in the name of ‘Lawrence Bishnoi Gang’ has come to light in Vile Parle area of ​​the capital Mumbai. The message read: “Mangal Royal Jewelers want a ransom of Rs 20 lakh in cash from you. If the money is not paid then like what is happening in India, now it is your turn. Want an answer whether you are going to be shot or not. Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Canada.”

Deal finalized from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 5 lakh

After continuous threats, when the accused called on WhatsApp on February 14, the victim jeweler expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount. After much bargaining, the ransom amount was fixed at Rs 5 lakh. After this, the place and time of delivery was decided through continuous chats and calls on 15th and 16th February. The accused asked for money in the parking lot of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) located in Kurla.

‘Lalpari’ codeword and police trap

The complainant immediately contacted Vile Parle police. A team in plain clothes was formed under the leadership of Police Inspector Srinivas Chevale. As per the plan, at 4:17 pm on February 16, two employees of the jeweler (Manish Parihar and Ashok Trivedi) reached Haldiram’s restaurant in the LTT parking lot on a Suzuki Access scooter with a bag containing Rs 5 lakh.

The accused told on the phone that the money has to be paid only if their man speaks the code word ‘Lalpari’. After some time four suspects reached there. Two of them came and said – ‘Lalpari’. The employees handed over the bag to him.

Caught by auto after chasing 200 meters

As soon as the four accused started running away in an auto rickshaw with the money, the police team already in ambush started taking action. The police chased them for about 200 meters and caught the four accused along with a bag worth Rs 5 lakh.

The arrested accused turned out to be not professional gangsters, but young men doing small jobs, who wanted to take advantage of the fear:
