Mumbai Boat Accident: Jogaram Bhati (60) has not been able to sleep even for a moment since Wednesday after the ‘Neelkamal’ boat accident in Mumbai and has been making rounds of hospitals in search of his younger brother. Mumbai resident Hansaram Bhati (43) had gone to visit ‘Elephanta’ island with his relatives from Rajasthan and this accident happened near the Mumbai coast on Wednesday afternoon.
Outside the Colaba police station, Jogaram said his brother lived in the western suburb of Malad and was into the business of ‘artificial’ jewellery. He told that on Wednesday, Hansaram’s brother-in-law’s son Praveen Rathod and his wife Neetu had come here from Rajasthan and they wanted to visit Mumbai.

Hansaram took a day off from work and left for Elephanta Island with his relatives and after reaching the Gateway of India, they boarded the boat which crashed. The boat capsized after colliding with a naval ship, during which Praveen and his wife spoke to their relatives in Rajasthan on phone and informed them about the incident amid rescue operations.
‘I want my brother back’
Jogaram said, “Our relatives in Rajasthan informed me and I reached the Gateway of India around 4.15 pm. Praveen and his wife were rescued, but my brother was not there.” “I don’t know how he is and what hardships he must have gone through, but I want my brother back,” an emotional Jogaram said.

Deepak Wakchore (50), a resident of Govandi area of the city, died in this accident and one of his relatives has demanded the government to provide job to one member of the family of each deceased. Out of 113 people on board the ship and tourist boat, 13 people lost their lives in the accident while 98 people including two injured people were saved.
