The morale of criminals seems to be high in Singrauli district. The latest case is from Bargawan police station area, where half a dozen miscreants broke the shutter of a goldsmith’s shop at midnight and stole gold and silver jewelery and cash worth lakhs of rupees. The entire incident has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the shop.

According to the information, Seth Vinod Kumar Saraf’s shop located in Bargawan Bazaar was targeted at midnight on 18th February. Taking advantage of the deserted time, the miscreants reached in front of the shop. First the surrounding activities were monitored, then with the help of tools the shutter lock was broken and entry was made.

In the CCTV footage, about five to six miscreants are seen with their faces covered. As soon as they entered the shop, they headed straight towards the counter and the safe. Within a few minutes, the gold chains, rings, bracelets and silver jewelery kept in the showcase were filled in the bag. The cash kept in the bag was also collected.

It is being told that the entire incident was carried out within just 5 to 10 minutes. It is being estimated from the speed and confidence of the miscreants that they had done recce of the shop in advance. After the incident, all the accused fled in different directions.

When the shop owner arrived in the morning, he was stunned to see the broken shutter and scattered goods. The showcases inside were empty and the cash counter was also clean. According to preliminary estimates, jewelery and cash worth lakhs of rupees have been stolen. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and started investigation. The forensic team has also collected evidence from the spot.

Panic among traders


There is an atmosphere of panic among the market traders after the incident. Traders have raised questions on the security arrangements and demanded increased police patrolling at night. He says that if the security system was strong then such a big theft would not have happened. Police claim that the accused are being identified on the basis of CCTV footage and will be arrested soon.
