More than 20 stray cows have been found dead in the last three days in Hisar. Health problems are being considered as the cause of deaths due to excessive consumption of food like pudding and puri given by the people. Sita Ram Singhal, founder director of ‘Gau Seva Helpline Committee’ in Hisar, said that during the ongoing festivals, many people give such food to cows like this, thinking that they are doing a virtue, but in fact they prove to be harmful to the health of cows.

For the past several years, Sitaram Singhal’s NGO has been involved in taking care of stray cows, saving sick or crashed cows and getting them treated by Veterinary doctor. Singhal said, “Only one or two stray cows die according to daily average in Hisar city. But in the last three days, more than 20 cows have died in different areas of the city.

In which places cows died in Hisar

He said, “There is a possibility that these cows have died due to eating things like pudding and puri. Eating more such things creates complications like acidosis in them and eventually they die. The cows have died in Mahavir Colony, PLA area, Sector 14, Mirzapur Road, Shanti Nagar, Mill Gate and other places.

Fracted food proved fatal for cows!

Sitaram Singhal said, “Some people may think that feeding only one whole or a little pudding will not cause any harm to the cow, but they do not know that the animal would have already eaten more because other people would have also fed these things to stray cows elsewhere. When the cows eat a lot of fried food, they do not digest after some time and prove to be fatal for them.

Avoid feeding animals to complete and pudding- Doctor

Expert Dr. Nilesh Sindhu, working at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Science, said, “Excess intake of fried foods like Puri and Halwa causes complications in animals. They die due to lack of timely treatment.” He advised that animals should feed their original diet- green fodder and straw. Avoid feeding fried foods like Puri and Halwa, as they are harmful to animals.

What did the mayor of Hisar appeal to the people?

Hisar Mayor Parveen Popli has appealed to the citizens not to feed fried food, pudding, puri, sweets and other such food items to cows and other animals. These foods have adverse effects on animals, as they can damage their digestive system and cause many health problems. He warned that they can also create serious conditions that can threaten the life of animals.
