After the shameful defeat against India in the ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan cricket team is being criticized from all sides. Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif has advised Pakistan Cricket Board to remove coach Mike Hesson. He said that if he can, he should hire an Indian as a coach.

New Delhi. After the humiliating defeat against India in the ICC T20 World Cup, pressure is increasing on Pakistan’s head coach Mike Hesson. The team has tried to recover from the disappointing defeat in the group match against India. Team India had defeated Pakistan by 61 runs in a one-sided match played in Colombo. With this victory, Team India reached Super Eight.
Questions have been raised over Hesson’s strategy against India, especially his decision to drop leg spinner Abrar Ahmed and bring in Usman Tariq to bowl late. Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif wonders how an experienced coach like Hesson can make such mistakes. Kaif said on his YouTube channel, “Keep aside Pakistan captain Salman Aga, what is Mike Hesson doing? He has coached in the IPL. What advice is he giving? Choosing to field first on a slow pitch against India? Hey brother, are you taking free money?”
What is the coach of Pakistan doing?
He further said, “I understand that Salman Aga is a new captain. This is his first World Cup, so he may have doubts. But Mike Hesson should have known what is the right strategy on a slow pitch? He used Abrar at the wrong time. You brought in the leg spinner and made him bowl in the fourth over of the powerplay. He got beaten, then he was dropped in the next match. This was a wrong decision of the management.”
Why bring leg spinner in powerplay?
“Leg spinners usually bowl after the powerplay. Be it Kuldeep Yadav or Rashid Khan. History shows that leg spinners are rarely used in the powerplay because the ball is new and difficult to catch,”
Against India, Pakistan showed a lot of dependence on its spinners. Spinners bowled 18 out of 20 overs. “Salman (Agha) bowled two overs; he could have bowled the third as well. There was so much talk about Usman Tariq, yet he was brought in when the match was out of Pakistan’s hands. I can understand that players struggle under pressure but what are the coaches doing?”
Advice to hire coach from India
After this Kaif gave a bold advice to Pakistan. Appoint coach from India. “Maybe now Pakistan should take a coach from India. The secret of foreign coaches has been exposed. They depend a lot on pre-written plans, decide in advance who will bowl when. But T20 cricket does not work like this. The game changes in every over.”
