New Delhi. The war of words has intensified before the T20 World Cup final to be played between India and New Zealand on Sunday. Before the big match, both the captains held a press conference. Where an outspoken reply by Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has created a stir on social media. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner adopted the same strategy during the press conference as Australian captain Pat Cummins before the 2023 ODI World Cup final. When Santner was asked whether his team intended to silence the large number of fans in Ahmedabad, he said with a smile, ‘Of course, our aim is to silence the crowd.’
Mitchell Santner further said, ‘There is a lot of pressure on India to win at home. We have seen throughout the World Cup that all the teams are at the same level and matches are often changed by a few small moments. We saw England lose after coming close to victory and a strong side like South Africa go out with a hiccup. We are confident that if we stick to our plan, we can upset another big team (India).

Surya said- everyone is sticking the same line
A few hours after Santner’s statement, when Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav came in front of the media, he was asked a question about the Kiwi captain’s statement of ‘silencing the crowd’. Surya, who is known for his bold style, gave a laughing reply which deflated Santner’s challenge. Surya said in a very funny and frank manner, ‘Hey everyone is coming and sticking the same lines. Ask someone to say something new!’
This taunt of Surya was a direct reference to the old statement of Pat Cummins, which now every opposition captain has started using as a ‘mind game’ against India. This ‘swag’ reply of Surya made it clear that the Indian team has now risen above these mental pressures.
Dressing room atmosphere: relaxed and excited
Talking about the pressure of the final, Surya said that the atmosphere in the Indian camp is very light-hearted. He said, ‘The mood of the camp is very relaxed. To lead such a brilliant team on your home soil and that too in such a grand stadium, it is a special feeling. Everyone is very excited for this final.
There will be a great battle in Ahmedabad
On one side is New Zealand, which wants to erase its ‘chokers’ tag and win its first T20 World Cup, while on the other side is defending champion India, which wants to create history by winning the trophy for the second consecutive time. The fearlessness with which Team India is playing under the captaincy of Surya has assured the fans that this time there will be not ‘silence’ but ‘noise of victory’ in Ahmedabad.
