External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared information on many important issues on Friday. He spoke on the issues of India’s energy security, the ongoing crisis in West Asia, atrocities committed by Pakistan during the 1971 war and India’s active role in global diplomatic forums.

Energy Security: Safe Shipping and Import Strategy

Randhir Jaiswal said that India has taken steps to ensure the safety of Indian ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. He said that four ships loaded with LPG have reached India safely. He said that we are in touch with many countries to meet the energy needs and safety of ships.

The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said India is working on a comprehensive strategy to meet its energy needs, which includes meeting the needs of 1.4 billion people, taking into account market dynamics and global conditions. This multi-pronged approach is the fundamental basis of India’s energy diplomacy.

India’s stance on West Asia crisis

India is closely monitoring the ongoing developments in West Asia. Jaiswal reiterated India’s continued appeal to give priority to the safe and unimpeded movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. He said that India is committed to maintaining the stability of the energy supply chain.

1971 war and Bangladesh’s demand for justice

Randhir Jaiswal also mentioned the terrible atrocities committed by Pakistan during ‘Operation Searchlight’ of 1971. He said the genocide was linked to the targeted killings of millions of innocent Bangladeshi people and widespread sexual crimes against women.

He said that these atrocities had shocked the world, but Pakistan still denies its crimes. He said that India supports Bangladesh’s demand for justice.

India’s participation in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting

Jaiswal told that Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is attending the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Paris. He has met with his counterparts from several countries including France, Germany, South Korea, Japan and Brazil.

He said that in this meeting the Foreign Minister emphasized on issues like global governance, Security Council reforms, streamlining peacekeeping operations and strengthening humanitarian supply chains. He also raised countries’ concerns related to food, fuel and fertiliser, reflecting the effects of global conflicts.

Body of Indian citizen being brought back from Abu Dhabi

Regarding the death of an Indian citizen due to falling debris in Abu Dhabi, the spokesperson said that the Indian Mission is working to send back the mortal remains as soon as possible. He clarified that there is no need for any evacuation in the current situation, as hundreds of flights are operating daily between the Gulf countries and India.

Prime Minister Modi congratulated Nepal’s PM Balen

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also reacted to Balendra Shah taking oath as the Prime Minister of Nepal. He said that the oath taking ceremony for the post of Prime Minister took place in Nepal today. The Ambassador of India participated in this program. He told that PM Modi has congratulated him Balendra Shah. PM Modi talked to him about India and Nepal working together.
