Maharajganj: Vicious thief arrested with stolen Ertiga car, joint action of SOG and police

Maharajganj Police has achieved great success in the campaign being run to curb incidents of vehicle theft in Maharajganj district. Taking action, a joint team of Purandarpur police station and SOG has arrested a vicious vehicle thief and recovered a stolen Ertiga car from his possession. The accused has been sent to jail after being produced in the court.

According to the police, on February 17, a case of theft of a plaintiff’s Ertiga car came to light from Purandarpur police station area. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Superintendent of Police (SP) Somendra Meena had formed a special team to unravel the incident. The team immediately activated its informer system and started raiding suspicious locations.

Accused arrested from Gorakhpur

During the search, the police got accurate information from the informer that the stolen Ertiga car was parked near Aditya Public School located in Jhangha police station area of ​​Gorakhpur district. On this information, a joint team of Purandarpur Police and SOG laid siege on February 19 at around 1 pm and caught the vicious thief. The accused caught by the police has been identified as Vikas Yadav (resident of Vishwanathpur, police station Jhangha, district Gorakhpur).

Confessed to crime during interrogation, search for accomplices continues

During preliminary interrogation, accused Vikas Yadav has accepted his involvement in the car theft incident. The police is now investigating the criminal history of the accused and is also thoroughly investigating whether his other associates are involved in this theft gang.
