‘Kharge-Sonia Gandhi never discriminated’: Then because of whom did he leave Congress? Pradyut Bordoloi Explains Why He Left Congress To Join Bjp Before Assam Assembly Elections Dispur Seat

Two-time MP from Assam Pradyut Bordoloi, who recently joined BJP, has fiercely attacked the Congress. He has made very serious allegations against his old party. He says that he was constantly being humiliated within the party and his self-esteem was being hurt. Let us tell you that Bordoloi, who was associated with Congress for five decades, is now contesting from Dispur assembly seat on BJP ticket.

Bordoloi said on Saturday that the discrimination against him started during the organizational elections of 2022. He told that when Shashi Tharoor decided to contest the elections for the post of Congress President, he had supported Tharoor. Bordoloi claims that some party leaders became angry with him for becoming Tharoor’s proponent and campaigning for him. Since then, efforts had begun to marginalize him in the party.

Kharge-Sonia Gandhi never discriminated

The former MP said that Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi never discriminated against him, but the second line leaders of the party deliberately isolated him. Bordoloi said that whenever he wanted to present his views in the Lok Sabha, he was not given a chance. His name was kept at the bottom of the party list so that he would get only two minutes to speak or else the time would run out.

Referring to an old incident, Bordoloi said that there was a fatal attack on him during the 2025 Panchayat elections. His car was attacked with iron rods. Initially they thought it was a conspiracy by the BJP, but later it came to light that the attack was carried out by someone close to a Congress MLA. When he complained about this to the high command, instead of listening to him, the same MLA was given more importance.

He further said that he was very disappointed when even State Congress President Gaurav Gogoi did not defend him in this matter. Bordoloi felt that there was no place left for him in the Congress. He said that what is the use of being an MP when he cannot raise the problems of his area properly in the Parliament.

Regarding joining BJP, he said that after resigning, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had contacted him. Bordoloi put forward only one condition before BJP that he should be given full respect. BJP has made him its candidate from Dispur. He made it clear that he has joined the party without any personal interest and will now serve the public with the strong organization of BJP.
