It never rains in this village! No clouds, no rain, still good farming happens, what is the secret?

Unknown Facts: Imagine that you live in a place where rain is falling beneath your feet, but your village remains completely dry. This is not a film scene, but reality.

Al-Hutaib village, located near Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, surprises scientists, travelers and geographers from all over the world. The most special thing about this village is that it never rains here.

village above the clouds

Al-Hutaib is situated at an altitude of about 3200 meters above sea level. Generally, rain clouds form at a height of 1500 to 2000 meters and it rains there. But in the case of this village, the clouds gather below the village and cause rain in the valleys. That is, the people of the village see the sight of thunder and heavy rain below their houses, while their area remains dry. This is one of the few places in the world where people truly live above the weather.

Despite there being no rain here, the weather is quite difficult. The morning is extremely cold due to high altitude and thin air. As the sun rises, the temperature rises rapidly and it becomes very hot in the afternoon. Since the village is above the cloud layer, it receives direct and strong sunlight.

Al-Hutaib is famous not only for its unique weather but also for its religious significance. It is an important pilgrimage site for the Bohra community. The shrine of the third Dai Al Mutlaq Syedna Hatim bin Ibrahim Al Hamidi is situated here. Devotees from India, Pakistan and other parts of South Asia come here for darshan.

Farming is done even without rain

The most surprising thing is that farming is also done successfully here. Villagers do terrace farming on the hill slopes.

Despite no direct rainfall, they collect water through traditional methods. Like dew, mist and water flowing from the mountains, the region is especially famous for the high-quality Yemeni coffee, which is loved around the world for its excellent taste and aroma.
