Iran War: 35 people arrested in UAE, 19 Indians also included; Accused of spreading fake video of Iranian attack on social media – UAE Orders Arrest Of 35 People Including 19 Indians For Posting Misleading Social Media Content

In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the arrest of 35 people has been ordered for posting misleading and fake videos on social media. These accused also include 19 Indian citizens. According to officials, these people shared such material on the internet amid regional tensions that could spread confusion and fear among the people.

According to UAE’s official news agency WAM, all the accused will be presented in court for a fast-track trial.

Action after monitoring digital platforms

UAE Attorney General Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said that during strict monitoring of digital platforms, it came to light that some people were trying to harm public order and the stability of the country by spreading false and misleading information. Investigation found that the accused were working in three different groups and posted the misleading content in different ways.

First group: Misleading claims with real videos

The first group of 10 people posted real video clips, which showed scenes of missiles passing through or intercepting the country’s airspace. Such comments and sound effects were added to these videos to make it seem as if the country is under attack. According to officials, this could have spread fear and panic among the people. This group includes 5 Indians, 1 Pakistani, 1 Nepalese, 2 Filipino citizens and 1 Egyptian citizen.

Second group: Fake videos made with AI

Seven people in the second group used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create simulated scenes like explosions, missile attacks and fires. National flags and dates were also added to these videos so that people would consider them genuine. There were many videos which were linked to incidents in other countries and were said to be from UAE. This group includes five Indians, one Nepali and one Bangladeshi.

Third group: Propaganda of another country’s military action

Six people in the third group are accused of sharing content praising the military actions and leadership of a country the UAE has described as a hostile state. This group includes five Indians and one Pakistani citizen. Apart from this, similar allegations have also been made against two more Indians.

Order for arrest of 10 people earlier also

Earlier on Saturday also, action was taken against 10 people, including two Indians. The prosecution has started interrogating all the accused and they have been sent to custody.

According to UAE law, such crimes are punishable with a minimum jail term of one year and a fine of up to one lakh dirhams (approximately Rs 22 lakh). Attorney General Al Shamsi said that an attempt was made to take advantage of recent regional tensions to spread false information, which could threaten national security and social stability.
