Indore: Gas Cylinder Chained, Family Chases Away Thief Who Came To Steal It, Locks Cylinder

An attempt was made to steal a gas cylinder from the house of a poor family in Lasudia area of Indore. Now the family has tied the cylinder with chains to protect it, so that a thief cannot steal the cylinder.

A young man had entered the kutcha house of the Bamnia family living in Scheme No. 134 of Indore in broad daylight to commit theft. At that time the parents had gone out of the house and their ten year old daughter was at home. The young man entered the house saying he wanted to meet his father, took out the regulator of the cylinder and started trying to take the tank. Seeing him doing this, the girl screamed and ran to call her uncle who lived next door.

By the time uncle arrived for help, the thief had fled. The family is preparing to complain about this to the police station also. For the safety of the cylinder, it has now been chained and locked with a strong lock. The girl told that she thought the young man was her father’s acquaintance, but he entered the room straight away and started taking out the cylinder, but when I started shouting, he got scared.

The girl’s uncle Shobharam, who lives in the neighbourhood, told that he also has two cylinders. When the incident of attempted theft came to light, they also tied both the cylinders with chains. He says that both the families are residents of Kukshi and have come to work as labourers.

They are living in a mud house on a vacant plot, but cook food on a gas stove because the smoke coming from burning wood raises objections from nearby rich families. The elders of the family go out for work all day long while the women and children stay at home. For this reason, thieves keep an eye on our houses. For this reason we have locked the gas cylinders.
