T20 WC: When and with which teams will India's matches be held in Super-8, new schedule revealedZoom

New Delhi: With Australia’s departure from the T20 World Cup, India’s Super 8 picture also became clear. It has been known when Team India will face which team in the Super-8 round. In fact, the match between Zimbabwe and Ireland in Pallekele on Tuesday was washed out due to rain. As soon as 1-1 point was divided between the two teams, Zimbabwe qualified for the Super-8 and Australia-Ireland were eliminated from Group B.

When and with whom will India’s Super-8 matches take place?
From Group B, Sri Lanka has qualified on the first position and Zimbabwe has qualified on the second position. That means it will face India in the Super-8 match on 26th February. If Australia had reached the Super-8, India would have faced Australia. This match will be played in Chennai. India will start its Super-8 campaign from February 22 with the match against South Africa, which will be played at the world’s largest Narendra Modi Stadium. The third and last match is to be played against West Indies in Kolkata on March 1.

Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe qualify from Group B
Zimbabwe has to play its last group match against Sri Lanka on 19 February. Sri Lanka has already reached Super-8 with six points. Australia has two points, having been defeated by Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Former champion Australia could have got a place in the Super Eight only after Zimbabwe lost both the matches, but rain spoiled its plans.

Team India trying to conserve its strength?
Team India may have reached the Super-8 of the T20 World Cup, but batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said on Tuesday that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be rested in the last match of Group A against Netherlands. In the match against Pakistan on Sunday, Bumrah took important wickets of Saim Ayub and captain Salman Ali Aga, due to which Pakistan had to face defeat by 61 runs. BCCI’s sports science team is carefully managing Bumrah’s workload and he is given rest from time to time.
