
India has taken a major step towards further strengthening its military power and maritime surveillance capabilities. The Defense Ministry has signed two important defense agreements on Friday. The total value of these two agreements is Rs 858 crore. These deals have been made to meet the needs of the Army and Navy. Through these agreements, India will not only acquire modern technology but will also improve the maintenance of old systems.
Air defense system from Russia for army
Defense Ministry has informed that an agreement worth Rs 445 crore has been signed with Russian government agency Rosoboronexport. Under this, Tunguska Air Defense Missile System will be purchased for the Indian Army. This modern system is capable of shooting down enemy aircraft, drones and cruise missiles in the air itself. This agreement will also strengthen the strategic defense partnership between India and Russia.
Navy’s P-8I aircraft will be maintained
The ministry has signed the second agreement with Boeing India Defense Private Limited. This deal is worth Rs 413 crore. The main objective of this agreement is to maintain the P8I long-range maritime surveillance aircraft of the Indian Navy. This agreement has been made under the Buy Indian category. Under this, the repair work of aircraft will be completed in India through indigenous technology and facilities.
Boeing P8I aircraft is very important for the Indian Navy. It is a multi role aircraft used for anti-submarine warfare and maritime surveillance. This aircraft is the main weapon of the Navy for surveillance in the Indian Ocean region. At present the Indian Navy has 12 such aircraft. After this agreement, the efficiency of these aircraft will increase further, which will make it easier to keep an eye on the maritime borders.
