The first encounter took place at the Adelaide Oval in 2022. This match was no less than a nightmare for India, as England registered the most lopsided semi-final win in the history of the tournament. Chasing the target of 169 runs, England openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales destroyed the Indian bowling and won by 10 wickets. India’s journey ended with this defeat, while England maintained the same rhythm till the final and defeated Pakistan and won the T20 World Cup title for the second time.

Two years later, India got a chance to take revenge at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown. Batting first, India scored 171/7 runs, which included 57 runs from Rohit Sharma and important contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya. This time the Indian bowlers did wonders. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel took three wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets and reduced England to just 103 runs. India registered a resounding victory by 68 runs and later won the T20 World Cup title.
