The Awami League party of Bangladesh has called its leader Abu Bakr Siddiqui Munna’s ‘death in custody’ murder. Awami League accused the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus of harassing their leaders and workers. Abu Bakr Siddiqui Munna, who was lodged in Gabandha District Jail, died on Monday (September 22, 2025).
Criticizing the Younus regime, the party said that the people of Bangladesh are seeing how forcibly occupying power, killers, hanging Yunus and their companions are killing Awami League leaders and activists in various ways.
Fake allegations against Awami workers: party
Awami League issued a statement and said, ‘Abu Bakar Siddiqui Munna (Munna Chairman) has been killed in the Awami League leader and former president of the Union Council at Kanchipada Union of Phulchhari Upazila, Gabandha. We strongly condemn and oppose the murder of a well -planned murder by the killers, hanging Yunus and his associates.
The party said, “We also express our solidarity with the bereaved family and assure that they will definitely get justice in future.” The party alleged that the Yunus rule is implicating the leaders and activists of the Awami League, 14-divine coalition leaders and people of various businesses in a fake case.
Hellly torture to prisoners in Bangladesh
According to Awami League, jails are considered one of the safest places in the world, but detainees are being tortured in Bangladesh. It also alleged that prisoners are being given physical and mental torture, as a result of which the number of deaths in custody is increasing every day.
The party further said that recently, many districts of the country, including Silhat, Maulvibazar and Gabandha districts, have been detained in custody. Despite the concern of the public and the shouts of the bereaved families, the Yunus government remains careless.
Mental torture being given to Awami League leaders
The party said, ‘The leaders and workers of Awami League are still being killed by giving various torture. False and oppressing cases are being registered against all. In one case, if bail is found, then in the second case, they are kept in custody unjustly using ‘shown arrest’. In this way, mental torture is also being given to kill the leaders and workers of Awami League along with physical torture.
