Himachal: Green signal to 73 schemes worth Rs 713.87 crore from NABARD, CM Sukhu holds meeting

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu held an important meeting in the first session of the first day to determine the priorities of the MLAs for the financial year 2026-27. CM presided over the meeting of MLAs of Una, Hamirpur and Sirmaur districts. During this, he said that 73 schemes worth Rs 713.87 crore have been approved by the government from NABARD during the year 2025-26. Among these approved schemes, 55 MLA priority schemes worth Rs 512.31 crore are related to the Public Works Department and 18 MLA priority schemes worth Rs 201.56 crore are related to the Jal Shakti Department.

Budget should be fully utilized – Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu

He directed that the budget should be fully utilized and reimbursement claims should be submitted to the NABARD office before March 15, 2026. Apart from this, the state government is trying to get more MLA priorities approved by NABARD by March 2026. The Chief Minister said that the three years of the present state government have been full of public welfare policies, transparent governance and comprehensive reforms. The policies of our government aim to strengthen the economy of the state, empower youth and women, provide security to the weaker sections and establish Himachal Pradesh as a prosperous, green energy rich and economically self-reliant state.

The step taken regarding revenue deficit grant is dangerous- CM

He said that the present government is committed to accelerated, inclusive and sustainable development of all sectors and every section of the society. CM Sukhu said, “The step taken by the 16th Finance Commission regarding the revenue deficit grant given to the states under Article 275 (1) of the Constitution is fatal for the hill states. This grant has been available continuously from the year 1952 till the 15th Finance Commission for the financial stability of the states, which has been stopped for the first time by the 16th Finance Commission, which is injustice to a state like Himachal Pradesh with hilly and difficult geographical conditions.

‘Stopping revenue deficit grant is a blow to the people’

CM further said that Himachal Pradesh plays an important role in environmental protection of the country by imposing a complete ban on felling of trees and also provides water through the rivers flowing through the state. Stopping the revenue deficit grant by the Central Government is an affront to the interests of the state. He said that the 15th Finance Commission had recommended a revenue deficit grant of Rs 37199 crore for Himachal. Apart from this, during the Corona period, the previous BJP government had received assistance of Rs 11,431 crore in the form of revenue deficit grant on the basis of the interim report of the Finance Commission.

Himachal Chief Minister also said, “By stopping the grant, the state will suffer a loss of approximately Rs 50 thousand crores.” The state government will now have to take tough decisions for efficient financial management as well as to increase the revenue of the state. The middle class and farmers have been ignored in the upcoming budget of the Central Government. Agriculture and horticulture are the mainstay of the economy in the state, but there is neither any provision of subsidy for horticulturists nor any mention of development of infrastructure in the Union Budget.

He said that no concrete announcement has been made for the expansion of Bhanupalli-Bilaspur and Chandigarh-Baddi rail projects. it Budget It is against the spirit of cooperative federalism. It is a document of an attempt to burden a small hill state like Himachal Pradesh with debt instead of making it self-reliant. He demanded the Central Government to restore the revenue deficit grant and give a special economic package to the state.

On the other hand, Chintpurni assembly constituency MLA Sudarshan Bablu thanked the Chief Minister for providing Rs 130 crore for the expansion of Chintpurni temple. He demanded completion of the work of Stothar Bridge, Chowki-Manyar College as soon as possible. Besides, a demand was also made to build a sub fire station in Jol and strengthen the road network.

Gagret area MLA Rakesh Kalia expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing Rs 2 crore for Gagret Hospital and demanded immediate release of the remaining funds to complete it. He also urged to complete the construction work of Bhadrakali ITI building and buildings of six government senior secondary schools. Also demanded adequate funds for sewerage facility and flood protection for Daulatpur Chowk and Mubarakpur.

Una MLA Satpal Satti demanded making a sewerage scheme for the new villages included in Una Municipal Corporation. He demanded strengthening of the drainage system of the city, construction of Santoshgarh-Una bridge and completion of the construction work of BDO office. He also demanded strengthening of Bhabhaur Sahib Irrigation Scheme.

What demand did the MLA of Kutlahar put forth?

Kutlahar MLA Vivek Sharma expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing Rs 36.89 crore to the Jal Shakti Department for various schemes in his area and sanctioning Rs 14.93 crore for the new drinking water scheme. He demanded completion of sewerage scheme in Bangana, strengthening of Bangana-Shantla road and Thanakalan-Bhakra road. Also demanded opening of Sub Judge Court in Bangana.

Demand to increase drinking water and sewerage system in Bhoranj

Bhoranj MLA Suresh Kumar demanded construction of Ladour-Patta drinking water scheme as soon as possible. He urged to strengthen the infrastructure in Bhoranj Nagar Panchayat. Also demanded construction of a new building of Sub Judge Court and sewerage scheme in Bhoranj. He thanked the Chief Minister for providing Rs 23.75 crore for the Critical Care Unit in Bhoranj.

What did Sujanpur MLA demand from the CM?

Sujanpur MLA Ranjit Singh urged to complete the construction work of Sujanpur BDO office and PHC platform buildings as soon as possible. He demanded upgrading of Taunidevi-Uhal-Kakkar-Junglebai road. Also requested to fill the vacant posts of doctors in Tauni Devi and Sujanpur hospitals.

Request to build a new bus stand in Badsar

Badsar MLA Indradutt Lakhanpal urged to build new bus stands in Badsar and Bhota. Along with this, he requested to strengthen health services in his area. Shri Renukaji Assembly Constituency MLA Vinay Kumar, while demanding to promote religious tourism in his area, said that Renukaji Lake should be desilted.
