New Delhi. The Indian women’s team had to face defeat by 10 wickets at the hands of Australia in the only Test match played. Indian batsmen were disappointing in both the innings of the Pink Ball Test played at the WACA Ground in Perth, due to which the team had to lose the match. After this defeat, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised the team’s efforts instead of targeting the individual performance of any player. Harmanpreet said that after winning the T20 series against Australia, the team could not continue the same form in the one-off Test match.

After the match, Harmanpreet Kaur said that the team had played well in the T20 matches and won the series 2-1, but it could not maintain that momentum in the Test match. He said that still this entire series was a good experience and playing in Australia is always special. He said, ‘Such multi-format series increases the confidence of the players. Harmanpreet also said that the team loves playing Test cricket, but playing with the pink ball was quite challenging. He hopes that such challenges and tournaments will continue to be available in the future also.

Harmanpreet also thanked Indian and cricket fans. He said, ‘Today was not a good day for the team, but in future the team will try to make the fans feel proud by performing better.’

In the match, Australia captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and decided to bowl first. India’s first innings was reduced to 198 runs. For India, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 52 runs, while Australia’s Annabel Sutherland bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets. In response, Australia scored 323 runs in the first innings. Annabel Sutherland played a brilliant inning of 129 runs and Ellyse Perry contributed 76 runs. Sayli Satghare performed well for India by taking 4 wickets.

After falling behind by 125 runs in the first innings, India could not recover from the pressure in the second innings and the team was out for 149 runs. Pratika Rawal scored 63 runs for India. Australia’s Lucy Hamilton took 3 wickets. Australia needed only 25 runs to win, which the team achieved in 4.3 overs without losing any wicket. Georgia Vol scored the winning run. Australia’s Annabel Sutherland was chosen player of the match for her excellent all-round performance.
