
The first Veterinary College of Eastern Uttar Pradesh is expected to be ready by the end of June 2026. After completion, along with degree-diploma studies in veterinary science, treatment of animals will also take place here.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his intention to upgrade this veterinary college as a university in the future. Chief Minister laid the foundation stone and bhoomi pujan of the Veterinary College being built in Tal Nador of Gorakhpur-Varanasi Highway. Yogi Adityanath Did it on 3 March 2024.
Construction started in September 2024
The construction work of this college started on 10 September 2024. This Veterinary College will be affiliated to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya University of Veterinary Sciences and Cow Research Institute, Mathura. With its construction, cattle farmers of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Western Bihar and neighboring country Nepal will benefit greatly.
This college will be developed in three phases in an area of 80 acres. The construction of its first phase will cost Rs 277 crore. According to Manish Kumar, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, Construction Division (Building), the executing agency, 65 percent of the work of the first phase of the project of construction of the Veterinary College has been completed. The structure work of the buildings has been done. The construction work will be completed by the end of June.
Students will get these facilities in the college
Under the first phase, academic block (ground + five floors), hospital block, residential block, male hostel with capacity of 106, female hostel with capacity of 106, PG male and PG female hostel with capacity of 60-60 will be built in the premises of Veterinary College.
Apart from this, auditorium, guest house, community centre, animal keeping place, feed store, STP, Kisan Bhawan along with research study centers of various disciplines related to veterinary science will be established.
This college campus will be developed on the concept of ‘Net Zero Energy’. For this, solar power plant will be installed. In the initial phase, there will be arrangements for admission of 100 students at the graduate level.
What did CM say during Bhoomi Pujan?
On the occasion of Bhoomi Pujan of the Veterinary College, the Chief Minister had said that this Veterinary Science College will be converted into a university in the future. Along with treatment of animals, work on breed improvement will also be done in this college.
Fisheries related programs will also be taken forward in this college. By studying here, young people will be able to become veterinarians, they will have a new platform to make a career. The drawing of the Veterinary Science College has been designed on the concept of King Shalihotra of Shravasti. King Shalihotra enriched the field of livestock by composing Shalihotra Samhita in the third century. In Indian tradition he is considered the father of veterinary science.
