Firing took place on Dr Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and patron of National Conference. He narrowly escaped the firing. Farooq Abdullah had gone to Greater Kailash area of Jammu on Wednesday (March 11) to attend the wedding of a lawyer. The accused who opened fire has been identified as Kamal Singh Jamwal, who has been controlled by the security personnel and taken into custody and the police has started investigating the matter.

There was a stir after the firing incident. Accused Kamal Singh Jamwal is a resident of Jammu. The video of this incident has also surfaced. In the video, the accused can be seen going very close to Farooq Abdullah and firing. As soon as he fires, the security personnel present there knock him down and control him.
Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma while talking to ABP News said that this incident should be investigated. He said that Farooq Abdullah is a great leader of India, there should be security like his. This is a security lapse although they are absolutely fine. Deputy CM was present with Farooq Abdullah
Farooq Abdullah has got security. Jammu and Kashmir Deputy CM Surinder Chaudhary was also with him. Surinder Chaudhary suffered minor injuries from shrapnel and was given medical aid.
