Mahendra Singh Dhoni has 7 world records in his name, which are impossible for any wicket keeper to break.

New Delhi. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, whom the world lovingly calls ‘Captain Cool’ and ‘Thala’. Dhoni, who changed the fortunes of Indian cricket, has set such records with his captaincy and unique understanding of the game, which are unbreakable even today. His success can be gauged from the fact that he is the only captain in the world who has won all three ICC white-ball trophies, T20, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy. Dhoni’s agility was such that his stumping speed was measured to be faster than the blinking of an eye (0.08 seconds). 192 stumpings behind the wicket and leading 332 international matches as captain is proof of his consistency and mental strength. Being not out 84 times in the role of ‘finisher’ shows that he was an expert in the art of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.

The biggest and ‘invincible’ record of Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni) is that he is the only captain in the world to win all three major ICC trophies. Dhoni is the only captain in the world who has won all three major ICC white ball tournaments. Dhoni created history under his captaincy by winning the T20 World Cup on South African soil in 2007. After this, by winning the ODI World Cup in 2011, India became the world champion in this format after 28 years. Then in 2013, he won the Champions Trophy title by defeating England at home. Even great captains like Australian legend Ricky Ponting or Steve Waugh could not achieve this feat. It is impossible to break this record of Dhoni.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has 7 world records in his name, which are impossible for any wicket keeper to break.

‘Lightning’ speed behind the wicket (stumping in 0.08 seconds)
Dhoni’s hands were like a radar behind the wicket which could hunt in the blink of an eye. He stumped Keemo Paul in just 0.08 seconds against West Indies in 2018. Compared to humans, it takes about 0.10 to 0.15 seconds to blink. Dhoni challenged science and created a record of stumping faster than the blink of an eye.

Most stumpings in international cricket
Not only speed, Dhoni’s consistency was also unmatched. A total of 192 stumpings are recorded in his name in international cricket (including Test, ODI and T20). In second place is Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka, who has 139 stumpings in his name. This gap is so big that it seems almost impossible for any wicketkeeper of the present time to break it.

Most international matches as captain
The patience that MS Dhoni showed as a captain is reflected in the number of matches he played. He led the Indian team in a total of 332 international matches (200 ODIs, 60 Tests, 72 T20s). Ricky Ponting is at second place with 324 matches. Bearing the pressure of captaincy for such a long time and remaining successful is a proof of Dhoni’s mental strength.

Most centuries while batting at number 6 in ODIs
Usually batsmen ranked No. 6 or below have to play the role of ‘finisher’. Where there is less time to make big scores. But Dhoni left his mark here too. He has scored 7 centuries in ODIs while batting at number 6 or below. Dhoni’s specialty was to save the team in times of crisis and then score a century.

Record of being ‘not out’ most number of times
Dhoni is not called the ‘world’s best finisher’ for nothing. He has been not out 84 times in ODI cricket. His plan was simple, take the match till the end. When Dhoni was at the crease, no matter how big the target was, the fans remained hopeful. In this list, Shaun Pollock (72) and Chaminda Vaas (72) are far behind him.

Most catches in T20 International
His agility behind the wicket was not limited to stumping only. Dhoni holds the record of taking the maximum number of 57 catches as a wicketkeeper in T20 International matches. His glove technique and unique way of catching the ball made him different from others.
