
A new phase of education is going to start in Delhi. The first CM of the capital, Shri School, will open its doors to students in Sarojini Nagar on 1 October. Officials say that the construction of the school is in the final stages and this will be the first institution to start under this initiative.
According to the Delhi government, due to problems in the process of installing smart boards, there was some delay in the inauguration and admission process of the school. For this reason, the entrance examination and other dates also had to be extended.
According to the Directorate of Education (DOE), the admit cards were issued on 10 September. The entrance examination for classes 6, 7 and 8 was conducted on 13 September, while it was to be held on 6 September earlier. The list of selected students was released on 20 September and the admission process will be completed by the end of September.
What is special in CM Shri School?
CM Shri School is inspired by the PM Shri School Scheme of the Central Government and is being made according to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These schools will have such modern facilities for students, which were rarely seen in government schools.
CM Sri School will have modern facilities like AI-operated library, smart classrooms for children, AR and VR equipment, biometric attendance systems and robotics lab.
The school will be a fully solar energy-powered green campus and will also have zero-waste management facility. Studies here will not be limited to books only, but children will get a chance to learn through experience and research.
Which students will get a chance
Half of seats in CM Shri schools will be reserved for children of government and government aided schools. It will include students from DOE, MCD, NDMC, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Also, children with Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs (Non-Cremi Layer) and special needs will get 5% discount in eligibility criteria.
The Delhi government announced Rs 100 crore for CM Shri schools in this year’s budget (2025-26). Their purpose is to strengthen the government education system so that children of every class can get better and modern education.
The special thing is that now the Delhi Board of School Education has been closed, so all these schools will be affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
