Delhi News: Traffic alert in Delhi, avoid these routes of Paharganj on Ram Navami, read advisory

On the occasion of Ram Navami in Delhi, special changes have been made in the traffic system due to the Shobha Yatra to be held in Paharganj area on 26 March 2026. While issuing an advisory, Delhi Traffic Police has advised the common people to plan their journey in advance and avoid crowded areas.

About 300 devotees are expected to participate in this procession. In such a situation, it is certain that the movement of vehicles in Paharganj and surrounding areas will be affected. The administration says that due to heavy crowd, traffic may slow down and traffic jams may also occur at some places.

Most affected on these roads

According to the traffic police, traffic will be affected in the surrounding areas including Nehru Bazaar Road, Chelmsford Road, Rajguru Road and Chuna Mandi. The speed of vehicles is likely to be slow in these areas in the evening. This effect will be seen from 5 pm to 11 pm.

Avoid these routes, take alternative routes

Commuters have been especially advised to avoid Chelmsford Road and Paharganj Market. Instead, an appeal has been made to use alternative routes like Minto Road, Ajmeri Gate and DBG Road. With this, the journey can remain smooth and unnecessary delays can be avoided.

Plan before traveling

The traffic police has asked people to plan their route before leaving home. Avoiding unnecessary travel during peak hours can also be a better option. This will not only save time but will also provide relief from congestion.

Along with following the instructions of the traffic policemen deployed during the journey, also pay attention to the traffic signals and signs. This will help in maintaining order and any kind of chaos can be avoided.

Appeal for cooperation from public

The administration has appealed for cooperation from the general public so that the Shobha Yatra can be conducted peacefully. Also, everyone has been asked to fulfill their responsibilities to ensure the safety of devotees and common citizens.

People have been advised to stay connected to the official platforms of Delhi Traffic Police for real-time traffic updates. Important information will be shared from time to time through social media and website.
