
The new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi (Delhi New LG) will now be Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Vinay Kumar Saxena, who was holding the responsibility of this post till now, has been given the responsibility of the post of LG of Ladakh. Apart from this, the responsibility of the post of Governor of Maharashtra has been handed over to Jishnu Dev Verma, the responsibility of the post of Governor of Bihar has been handed over to retired Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain and the post of Himachal Governor has been handed over to Kavinder Gupta. Kavinder Gupta was earlier the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
Who is Taranjit Singh Sandhu?
Taranjit Singh Sandhu is a former diplomat, who was India’s Ambassador to America from 2020 to 2024. In his 35-year career, Taranjit Sandhu worked to strengthen India-America relations. He is best remembered for his work from 2013 to 2017, when he served as Deputy Chief of Mission to the Prime Minister in Washington DC. Not only this, Taranjit Singh Sandhu has also taken the responsibility of High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka and Council General in Germany. Taranjit Singh Sandhu is a senior IFS officer. He is married to Reenat Sandhu. He has taken PG degree in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Before this, he had done Honors in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. Sandhu was India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka from January 2017 to January 2020. He had also previously served as the head of the political wing at the Indian High Commission in Colombo from December 2000 to September 2004. Sandhu was the Consul General of India in Frankfurt from September 2011 to July 2013.
