
Congress has released the list of its candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections. The party has announced candidates for 284 seats out of total 294 seats in the state. Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has been made the candidate from Baharampur assembly seat. Whereas, Mausam Noor has been given ticket from Maltipur assembly constituency.
Congress has fielded Pradeep Prasad against Mamata Banerjee from Bhawanipur seat. Anamika Rai has been made the candidate from Hemtabad, Mohammad Imran Ali from Jangipur, Debendranath from Tufanganj and Harihar Rai from Dinhata. The party has also fielded Madhav Rai from Darjeeling, Abdul Hannan from Sujapur, Sushmita Biswas from Dum Dum, Gautam Bhattacharya from Diamond Harbour, Souvik Mukherjee from Asansol South and Prosenjit Puitandi from Asansol North. West Bengal Assembly elections are being held in two phases on April 23 and 29. Counting of votes will take place on May 4.








Earlier, West Bengal Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir had said that the party intends to field candidates in every constituency. He had said that the party would not hesitate to field a candidate against Mamata Banerjee also. He had said that every candidate contesting elections from Bhawanipur will be a big leader for us. We are fielding candidates on all 294 seats and will not leave any seat vacant.
On Friday itself, a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress Party was held in Delhi, in which senior leaders had a detailed discussion on candidate selection. The meeting was attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former party president Rahul Gandhi, AICC General Secretary (Organization) KC Venugopal and many leaders of West Bengal.
