Elections are going to be held soon in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Now political turmoil is intensifying in the state. Meanwhile, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh targeted BJP. He has put forward the issue of delimitation for discussion. He argued that the Southern states, which effectively controlled their population. They should not be punished with fewer parliamentary seats. He also alleged discrimination in distribution of central funds in an interview to PTI. He said both representation and financial justice would be the key issues to be raised to corner the BJP in the upcoming Kerala and Tamil Nadu elections.
When he was asked whether delimitation in Kerala and Tamil Nadu was going to be an election campaign issue. Then he said that this is a very big issue. As per the current situation, there will be a decrease in the number of seats in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. “It is a matter of concern. It is not an issue right now because the census is yet to be conducted. We will know the comprehensive results of the census by April next year. Then definitely a delimitation commission will be constituted. It should not be that states, especially the south Indian states, are punished for being so responsible and responsive in terms of family planning programmes,” he said.
