Relief and rescue operations continue after the horrific disaster in Nandanagar. On Friday, five more bodies were recovered from the debris from the Kuntari area. So far one of the 10 people missing in this disaster has been evacuated while the bodies of seven people have been recovered. Two people are still missing in Dhurma village whose search is on. All the seven bodies recovered have been handed over to their families.

The bodies of Narendra Singh and Jagdamba Prasad were recovered on Thursday. Narendra Singh was first cremated in the morning. Jagdamba Prasad’s bodies were kept safe due to the absence of a relative. Later, when the body of his wife Bhaga Devi was also recovered and the relatives arrived, the two husband and wife were cremated simultaneously. After this, the bodies of others killed in the disaster were also cremated at the confluence site.

At the same time, District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari and Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Panwar are constantly meeting with the affected families and consolation. He has assured the victims of all possible help. The District Magistrate said that the Sera-Dhurma road has been washed away from many places, which is going on to fix it. Besides, foot routes are also being restored so that relief materials can reach the affected quickly. Food packets and ration kits are being sent from helicopter in Dhurma village so that no family is lacking food or essential goods.

The District Magistrate and SP also inspected the relief camp at the Maria Ashram. He took information about food and other facilities for the people staying there and assured them that every necessary facility would be provided. The District Magistrate said that all the departments are working in mutual coordination and the work of opening the roads is going on fast. Meanwhile, SDM RK Pandey, SDM Sohan Singh Rangad, Deputy Superintendent of Police Amit Saini, Tehsildar Deepti Shikha and other officials were also present.
