Recently, there is a huge shortage of commercial LPG cylinders in the country, due to which cooking has become challenging for restaurants and cafe operators. In such a situation, the famous Indo-Chinese cafe chain ‘Wok and Fork’ located in Bengaluru and Mangalore has launched a very unique and creative offer, which has become viral on social media.

The offer reads something like this: “Bring one commercial LPG cylinder (19 kg) and get 50 plates of chicken momos free!” The cafe has shared this post on its official Instagram account @wokandforkindia, after which both the cafe and its offer have come into discussion.

Funny idea went viral
The post contains a graphic that reads, “Help us cook and we’ll feed you.” The caption further clarifies, “Gas for us, momos for you! Bring a commercial LPG cylinder to any of our outlets and enjoy 50 plates of momos.” This offer went viral within a few days, where people are giving funny reactions in the comments. Someone is saying, “The cylinder is at home but we will return after eating momos!” So someone is writing, “This jugaad is amazing in the gas crisis!” Wok & Fork is a popular Desi Chinese café known for its momos, noodles, fried rice and beverages. Their outlets are in Hampankatta, Attavar and Bengaluru in Mangalore. The menu of the cafe includes various types of momos like Steamed Chicken Cheese Momos, Fried Signature Chicken Momos, Lemon Chicken Momos etc., which are quite popular among the customers.

Food centers are closing
In recent times, due to gas supply problems, many outlets have had to limit their menus. The cafe had given an update in a post a few days ago that the service is being affected due to shortage of LPG. This offer is not just a joke, but also a way to highlight the seriousness of the gas crisis. Commercial cylinders are different from domestic cylinders and are used by restaurants. Due to less availability in the market, cooking has stopped at many places or orders are being cancelled. In such a situation, this step of Wok and Fork is a great example of marketing, which is attracting people’s attention and giving free publicity to the brand. Looking at the reactions of users on social media, it seems that this offer is proving to be a big hit. Many people are asking whether this is really valid or just a joke? Some users said that if someone takes a cylinder, the cafe will benefit because the price of one cylinder is in thousands, while the value of 50 plates of momos is also quite good (on an average, one plate of momos costs Rs 150-250, so the value of 50 plates can range from Rs 7,500 to Rs 12,000). But for the cafe, it is also a way to solve the gas problem.
