
Holi, the festival of colors and enthusiasm, this time brought sadness and mourning for many families in the district. Seven people died in road accidents, electrocution and suspicious circumstances at different places, while 11 people were injured in separate accidents in Musafirkhana and Gauriganj. These incidents snatched away the happiness of many homes in an instant.
Cyclist Anwari Bano (55) died, while her husband Mohammad Wasim (59) was seriously injured in a collision with a DCM on Tuesday on the Lucknow-Varanasi National Highway near Gadha Mor in Kamrauli. Both were going to get medicines on bicycle. After the accident, the driver left the vehicle and fled from the spot. Injured Wasim is undergoing treatment in the district hospital.
Raj Bahadur (60), resident of Kaithagaon Dheerapur of Inhauna, also lost his life in the road accident. He died in a collision with an uncontrolled car on the Lucknow-Sultanpur highway. Shiv Om (18), resident of Bagmira Bhitwa village of Bazar Shukul, died in a road accident on Wednesday. He was going to play Holi on a bicycle.
As soon as he boarded the Jagdishpur-Sathin road, he collided with a speeding bike coming from the front. The villagers took the seriously injured youth to CHC Jagdishpur, where doctors declared him dead.
Karishma (27) was found hanging in her mother’s room under suspicious circumstances in Sawangi village of Piparpur. Police reached the spot after receiving the information and started investigation by sending the body for post-mortem.
Farmer Gherau Prajapati (65), returning from the fields in Sewai Hemgarh village of Munshiganj, came under the influence of a broken electric wire, due to which he died.
The body of Sunil Kumar Verma (30), resident of Jakha Shivpur of Musafirkhana, was found in the bushes on the roadside near Lalganj intersection. His damaged bike was also found lying on the spot. According to the police, he died when the bike went out of control and fell into a pit.
Hanuman Gautam (35) died during treatment after consuming toxic substance under suspicious circumstances in Patti village of Barsanda, Kamrauli. The family members have alleged murder by poisoning, while the police is investigating the case.
Meanwhile, youth Pawan Kumar Gupta (23), who had gone to take bath in Gomati river after playing Holi in Kishni village of Bazar Shukul, drowned. Police and local divers are busy searching for them, but till the time of writing the news, no trace of them could be found.
Eight people were injured in a fight and stampede like situation during the fair in Musafirkhana area, who were taken to the hospital for treatment. Apart from this, three other people were injured in separate accidents in Gauriganj area. All the injured are undergoing treatment.
After these incidents, the enthusiasm of Holi turned into mourning in many homes. At some places the children were left in tears due to the death of their mother and at some places their future was in danger due to the departure of the earning member of the family. These tragic incidents that took place on this festival of colors took away the happiness of many families in the district.
