Big relief to jailed Azam Khan, Allahabad High Court will hear on next date

Hearing was held in Allahabad High Court in the famous case related to Samajwadi Party’s senior leader and former cabinet minister Azam Khan. The single bench of Justice Samit Gopal has extended the interim relief granted to all the petitioners including Azam Khan, co-accused Virendra Goyal till March 24. The court has already temporarily restrained the trial court from passing the final order in this case.

Azam Khan and his associate Virendra Goyal have filed a petition in the High Court demanding a stay on the final verdict by the trial court. In the petition, the order of May 30, 2025 of the trial court has been challenged, in which his demand was rejected. Both have appealed to the High Court to cancel the trial court order.

This is a case of 2016

This case is related to the famous forced eviction case of the year 2016. On October 15, 2016, action was taken to demolish unauthorized structures on the Waqf property named Yatim Khana, Waqf No. 157, Rampur. In this case, a case was registered in Rampur Kotwali police station in 2019.

The petition states that a fair trial is not possible unless the key witnesses are re-examined and important video footage related to the case is not brought on record. The High Court is also simultaneously hearing the petitions of co-accused Mohammad Islam alias Islam Contractor, Shahid Pradhan and Ale Hasan Khan in this case. The court has ordered a joint hearing by connecting all the petitions. The next hearing in the case will be held on the scheduled date.
