
This year a historic and spiritual decision has been taken regarding Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. Shri Amarnath Sign Board in its 50th board meeting has approved the laser and sound show dedicated to ‘Baba Barfani’. Which will be organized in both Srinagar and Jammu cities. This show will not only become a center of attraction for the devotees, but will also present the rich spiritual heritage of Jammu and Kashmir in a lively form.
According to the information, the Board has announced that the first puja of Amarnath Yatra of the year 2026 will be held on June 29 on the auspicious occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima. Whereas the date of formal start of the journey will be announced soon.
Accident insurance for workers and priests will be Rs 10 lakh
The meeting was presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board. The Board approved various key measures and interventions to further enhance the spiritual experience and convenience of the devotees for the upcoming 2026 Yatra. Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board also decided to increase the accident insurance cover for registered pilgrims, service providers, officials, seasonal workers and priests from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The Board also discussed and approved various welfare measures for all its employees. The Lieutenant Governor directed the officials to identify places for installation of suitable toilet facilities along the route of the Yatra. He also directed the installation of shelter sheds and rain shelters on the tracks for pilgrims, service providers and security personnel.
Meeting on ongoing projects, dissemination of travel related information, insurance cover for ponies Season The forecast witnessed progress in infrastructure and systems, security and surveillance, digital pre-paid system for hiring services, laying of crash barriers and safety guardrails at vulnerable stretches on both the routes and various works being carried out by various departments. Reviewing the maintenance, restoration and development of travel tracks by the Border Roads Organisation, the Board was informed that BRO has recorded significant progress. Baltal and Pahalgam Comfortable track width has been achieved on both the routes.

Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, gave a detailed presentation about the arrangements for the upcoming yatra. Shrine Board member Swami Avadheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, Prof. were present in the meeting. Kailash Mehra Sadhu, KK Sharma, KN Rai, Mukesh Garg, Dr. Shailesh Raina, Dr. Simridhi Bindru, Mr. Suresh Haware and Prof. Vishwamurthy Shastri was present. Shailendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Power Development Department, Nalin Prabhat, DGP, Chandrakar Bharti, Principal Secretary Home, Santosh D. Vaidya, Principal Secretary, Finance, Administrative Secretary, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir were also present in this meeting.
