BCCI bans analyst for life time
New Delhi: BCCI has exposed a big case of corruption in Indian domestic cricket. BCCI has banned an analyst for life for adopting corrupt practices during Ranji Trophy. According to the report of Hindustan Times, the BCCI Ombudsman, after investigation by the anti-corruption wing of the board, has given a lifetime ban to video analyst Raja Reddy for violation of Articles 2.1.3 and 2.1.4.
This whole matter is of February 2024 when the quarter-final match of Andhra and Madhya Pradesh Ranji Trophy was played in Indore. In this match, Raja Reddy had corrupt contact with Andhra player Girinath Reddy. Raja was BCCI’s analyst in that quarter-final match. He had PMOA accreditation and was also allowed to sit in the room designated for the third umpire and match referee. The Andhra team manager reported the matter to the ACU official who took action.
Raja Reddy had tried spot fixing
Girinath Reddy told in a statement given to ACU that a day before the match, Raja Reddy asked him for information about the playing eleven and offered him Rs 5 lakh in exchange for giving five runs in two overs. WhatsApp call and chat history revealed that Raja Reddy repeatedly called Girinath Reddy, but Girinath flatly refused and said that he would report the incident to his team manager.
This has been said in the order of Ombudsman Arun Mishra dated November 11. During investigation, Raja Reddy had deleted his WhatsApp history, he admitted to calling Girinath Reddy but denied giving the money. He said that his interest in the playing eleven was due to groupism and other internal problems in the Andhra team. Raja also worked as a video analyst for the senior Andhra women’s team.
