A dispute broke out at the Dubkhara petrol pump located in the Nagar police station area of ​​the district, when some people had an altercation with the journalists who were reporting. It is alleged that a person named Karun Singh, along with his associates, assaulted the journalists and an attempt was made to snatch their equipment. Resentment is being seen among local journalists after the incident. On the complaint of journalists, the police have registered a case and started investigation.

According to the information, journalist Vaidik Dwivedi and his team were covering a news related to public interest at Dubkhara petrol pump. Then suddenly accused Karun Singh came there with his henchmen. It is alleged that without any reason the accused started abusing the journalists. When the journalists turned on the cameras, the accused became even more aggressive. The accused scuffled with the journalists and snatched their equipment. Journalists say that the aim of the accused was not just to stop us, but to completely crush our voice.

Journalists filed FIR against the accused

Today, dozens of journalists from the district united and surrounded the police captain’s office in protest against the incident. Journalists said that if journalists are not safe in the field, then democracy has no meaning. Journalists have demanded that a case should be registered not only for ordinary assault, but under serious sections like obstruction in government work and attempt to rob (snatching a camera).

The accused should be arrested soon and sent to jail. Safety of journalists should be ensured during coverage in the field. Immediate ultimatum to the city police station: Considering the sensitivity of the case, the police captain assured the journalists that the police will not bow down to any goon element. He gave strict instructions to the city police station over the phone itself to register an FIR against the accused Karun Singh and take strict action on the basis of evidence.

Various journalist organizations of the colony have strongly condemned this act. Senior journalists say that this incident of Dubkhara is against democratic norms. This attack is not on journalists, but on thousands of people whose voices become journalists. We will not sit silent. The journalist delegation has given a clear warning that if the police does not show any concrete results within 24 to 48 hours, then all the journalists of the district will leave their pens and take to the streets and surround the district headquarters.

Police administration engaged in investigation of the incident

Superintendent of Police Yashveer Singh has taken cognizance of the complaint and ordered immediate action. SHO of the same city police station Bhanupratap Singh said that the matter is being investigated and necessary legal action will be taken on the basis of the report.
