
In Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, Excise and District Police launched a joint campaign to curb illegal liquor on the occasion of Holi and festivals. The team raided police station Munderwa area and destroyed a huge amount of illegal raw liquor storage and also destroyed liquor manufacturing plants. This action created a stir among the liquor mafia.
During this time, a woman who is the mastermind of this entire game has also been arrested. Excise officials have appealed to people to buy liquor only from designated shops on Holi. Apart from this, this operation will continue for many more days.
350 liters of water was destroyed
The joint team conducted a sudden raid in Mohalla Karwal Colony of Munderwa area. Seeing the convoy of officers’ vehicles, there was panic among the illicit liquor traders. Area officer Rudhauli Kuldeep Singh Yadav and police station incharge Munderwa Pradeep Kumar Singh May Force were included in the team. During an intensive search operation, the team recovered about 350 liters of liquor from the spot, which was destroyed by the police on the spot as per legal procedure.
Along with this, during the raid, 15 liters of prepared illicit liquor and various equipment used in making liquor were seized. Police have arrested liquor mafia Shanti Devi from the spot. A case has been registered against him under Excise Act and other relevant sections at Munderwa police station.
Action will continue continuously
Officials clarified that in view of the festival of Holi, this campaign will continue continuously in the entire district. If information is received about illegal manufacturing, storage or sale of raw liquor in any area, strictest action will be taken against the concerned.
Smuggler caught on the banks of Saryu river
In the same Cantonment police station area, in the Majha area, the Excise Department team took major action, a smuggler carrying raw liquor in a sack on a bike was arrested red-handed from the spot, while the lahan kept hidden on the banks of river Saryu for making hundreds of liters of raw liquor was also destroyed. District Excise Officer Rajesh Srivastava said that the department is active regarding Holi, and mafias are being arrested by raiding the liquor shops.
