
In Kumarganj police station area of Ayodhya, the police has busted a vicious gang that was cheating the grain traders. The accused used to deceive businessmen by pretending to be a policeman and extort money from them. After receiving the complaint, Kumarganj police station of Uttar Pradesh started investigation and laid a trap and arrested a member of the gang.
During police interrogation, many important information has been obtained from the accused and the search for other members of the gang is going on. Police say that this gang used to especially target coal traders and win their trust by posing as police officers. A case has been registered against the arrested accused under relevant sections and further legal action is being taken.
Police busted the fraud gang
According to the information, on 26 February 2026, a Galla trader of Kumarganj town was defrauded of about Rs 50 thousand in the name of selling 9.5 quintals of mustard. The accused won the confidence of the businessman by claiming himself to be associated with the police and asked him to take the cash to Sarson police station. After this he fled from the spot on the pretext of bringing the keys.

Police arrested the accused and started investigation
After the incident, a case was registered in Kumarganj police station on the complaint of the victim businessman. During the investigation of the case, the police team arrested the accused Jitendra Bahadur Singh, resident of village Naushara, police station Paraspur district Gonda, near Itaunja bridge on Sunday, March 15, 2026. During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had already committed similar fraud incidents in many police station areas.
Police have recovered Rs 23,000 in cash from the possession of the accused, Passion Pro motorcycle with fake number plate used in the incident, samples of black and yellow mustard, seven fake number plates, police beret cap and a mobile phone. The police took necessary legal action against the accused and presented him in the court. From where he has been sent to jail.
