For a startup, every new recruit is not just an employee, but a hope for the future. Especially for companies running in the initial stages, every team member is very important, because only small teams are busy in fulfilling big dreams. Startups work in an environment of limited resources, low budget and trust. In such a situation, every employee is given more responsibility and access to the system, so that the work can progress faster. But imagine, if the same employee causes loss worth lakhs to the company? Recently, a shocking case came to light, where a new employee defrauded the company of about Rs 2 lakh in the very first week of joining. This incident is becoming increasingly viral on social media and is surprising people.

This case is related to Gully Labs, an Indian sneaker startup based in Delhi. Company co-founder Arjun Singh shared a post about this incident on social media platform X (earlier Twitter).
He told that the company had hired a customer support (CS) employee a few months ago. But in the very first week of joining, that employee took advantage of the backend system and created 100% discount codes. Using these codes, he ordered shoes worth about Rs 2 lakh for his friends.
