Are NSE, BSE open for trading on March 20?

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are open for normal trading today, March 20, 2026, despite speculation about a market holiday on account of Eid al-Fitr.

Both exchanges confirmed no holiday is listed for March 20 in their official 2026 holiday calendars. All market segments — equities, derivatives, and other instruments — are operating on a regular schedule.

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) is also open, with commodity trading in bullion and energy running across both morning and evening sessions as usual.

Investor confusion had circulated ahead of the trading day, with some expecting a closure tied to the Eid holiday. Exchanges clarified that the festival does not fall on an officially designated market holiday this year.

No further weekday trading holidays are scheduled for the remainder of March. Markets will observe closures only on the usual Saturdays and Sundays going forward.
