Alkem Laboratories shares decline over 1% after ₹930 crore promoter stake sale

Alkem Laboratories shares witnessed a volatile trading session on Wednesday, falling over 1 per cent after promoter entities sold a 1.5 per cent stake in the pharmaceutical company through block deals worth ₹930 crore.

The stock, which opened nearly flat, traded at ₹5,216.50 on the NSE after swinging between an intraday low of ₹5,175 and a high of ₹5,274.

According to NSE block deal data, Promoter entities Jayanti Sinha and Samprada & Nanhamati Singh Family Trust divested a total of 17,88,220 shares, representing a 1.49 per cent stake in Mumbai-based Alkem Laboratories.

Following the transaction, Jayanti Sinha, part of the promoter group of Alkem Laboratories, exited the company. The overall promoter holding in the pharmaceutical firm declined to 49.71 per cent from 51.20 per cent earlier.

Institutional investors ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, HDFC Mutual Fund, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Nippon India Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund, BNP Paribas, Societe Generale, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs picked up shares through the block deal.
