Ajab Gajab: In Gangiyasar village of Fatehpur subdivision of Sikar district, Holi burning is done according to tradition and not according to the auspicious time. In this tradition that has been going on for hundreds of years, all the communities of the village burn Holika together. People gather in Guwad in the afternoon with chang-dhap, women sing traditional songs and men and women together go to the burning site. It is a symbol of unity and equality and even today Holika Dahan is celebrated with sunset in the village.

Holi 2026: There are different traditions across the country regarding celebrating the festival of Holi. Holika Dahan is done in most parts of the country and there is a specific auspicious time for it. But, there is a village in Sikar district where till date Holika Dahan has not happened as per the auspicious time. Holika Dahan is still performed here only according to hundreds of years old tradition. This time the burning of Holi takes place for the first time in the state in Gangiyasar village of Fatehpur subdivision. Here Holika Dahan is done with sunset.

This tradition has been going on in this village for hundreds of years. Not only this, here the entire village burns Holi together. In which no discrimination is seen and people from all communities of the village burn Holika together. In this, people from Jat, Brahmin, Meghwal and other communities of the village come together and burn Holika. Villagers say that till date Holi burning in their village has not been done as per the auspicious time but has always been done as per tradition.

People come out of their homes taking shelter

It is a tradition in this village that in the afternoon, people living in different parts of the village come out of their homes carrying chang dhap. These people gather at a place in Guwad of the village in which hundreds of women are also present. Women sing traditional songs from their respective homes. Men and women singing songs and playing chang dhap go for Holika Dahan and after burning there return together, after which Holi programs are organized in the village.

Holi and Diwali are not celebrated according to the auspicious time.

In today’s era, where caste discrimination and other social evils are increasing, the people of this village are setting an example. The people of this village say that every festival is celebrated according to their tradition, here Diwali puja is never done according to the auspicious time. After dark in the evening, everyone worships Diwali in their homes. Today, on the day of Holi, burning was done in the village at sunset.
